The Boeing Company is seeking a Simulation Software Engineer Manager to join our Enterprise Simulation team based in Seattle, WA or any of the listed locations.
This position requires a deep understanding of simulation technologies and their deployment in mission-critical and safety-critical environments with a variety of internal customers. You will be expected to manage several moderately-sized teams, balancing future development roadmaps with immediate support for a number of customer deployments. You must excel at tracking multiple shifting priorities, tracking issues through resolution while maintaining a cohesive vision for future development.
As a key technical leader on the team, you must be a skillful communicator to a variety of audiences, able to see problems through several perspectives at different levels of abstraction. You will work to inform and evolve a strong product vision, help align roadmaps and teams to execute that vision, identify and adapt to challenges along the way.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead and grow a high-performing software team for Software Simulation Test Frameworks and Deployment
  • Guide teams in development and integration of complex software components into a fully functional test environment solution
  • Guide teams in deploying, maintaining, and supporting these environments
  • Serve as advisor and spokesperson to program customers. Establish and maintain frequent and open communication with various stakeholders
  • Gather and interpret diverse technical and business information to proactively identify future needs and challenges
  • Promote efficient Agile development with robust tooling and metrics
  • Develop plans, budgets; estimate timelines and resources needed for success
  • Manage Risks, Issues & Opportunities
  • Inform the product vision for the Boeing Emulation, Simulation, Test, and Analysis Framework
  • Define and launch specific projects that demonstrate that vision
  • Support, lead, and judiciously delegate the project team's responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project lifecycle
  • Identify appropriate goals and metrics for product success and drive implementation across the teams
  • Establish the appropriate type and level of process to improve product quality, developer performance and experience; simplify existing complex processes as needed
  • Provide positive mentoring to team members
  • Collaborate with leadership team on strategy development
  • Provide clear written and spoken communication to a variety of audiences
  • Foster a culture that supports diversity and inclusion

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • Bachelors Degree
  • This position requires eligibility for a US Secret Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership."
  • 3+ years of experience in developing simulation related software
  • 3+ years of full-lifecycle software development
  • 3+ years of experience of professional hands-on experience with software development tools in the following areas: requirements management (e.g., Jama), backlog management and collaboration (e.g., Confluence, JIRA, Crowd), CI/CD (e.g., Artifactory/Xray, GitLab, Jenkins), testing (e.g., Micro Focus ALM, LRE, JMeter), and code quality/security (e.g., SonarQube, Coverity)
  • 1+ years of experience with oversight of budgets and financial data

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of leading, managing, and growing multiple software teams
  • Development experience involving hardware and software integration of mission-critical or safety-critical systems
  • Experience with Product-Line Engineering
  • Experience with safety-critical and mission-critical development processes
  • Experience with the operations and contracts from the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) union

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range for Manager level (Level K): $171,700-$232,300
