About the Role

We are looking for a .NET Developer to join our Email+ team. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software solutions that power our email hosting, Microsoft 365 integration, and cloud services. You will work closely with product managers, architects, QA engineers, and fellow developers to build reliable, secure, and high-performance applications used by more than one million hosted mailboxes.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale cloud services, modernize existing systems, and contribute to products that combine Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, email security, backup, and archiving technologies.

About the Team & Product

The Email+ team develops and supports a portfolio of products that integrate Microsoft Exchange email hosting with email filtering, archiving, encryption, backup, and a unified customer management portal (HostPilot). We also actively expand and modernize our Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

Our current initiatives include:
  • Modernizing Microsoft 365 license management
  • Extending functionality of cloud-native M365 microservices
  • Integrating Email Protection with Microsoft 365 and Office 365
  • Developing and supporting streaming services for Microsoft Exchange Backup, Archiving, and related solutions
  • Improving the scalability, reliability, and security of our email platform

Today, our platform hosts and protects over 1 million mailboxes, providing enterprise-grade reliability, security, and performance.

We follow Agile/Scrum practices with two-week sprints, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using the .NET platform.
  • Build scalable backend services and APIs for cloud-based email and Microsoft 365 solutions.
  • Participate in the modernization of existing applications and migration toward modern architectures.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development standards and engineering practices.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, development frameworks, and AI-assisted software engineering practices.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience with .NET technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in C# and .NET.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Solid knowledge of ASP.NET Core, an open-source web development framework | .NET Core, MVC, and SQL Server.
  • Experience working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Understanding of object-oriented design principles and software design patterns.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Exchange, or Office 365 APIs.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies.
  • Experience with messaging or streaming technologies.
  • Knowledge of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3, Exchange Web Services, Microsoft Graph API).
  • Experience working with monitoring and observability tools.

AI Tools & Modern Development

We encourage engineers to leverage modern AI-powered development tools to improve productivity and code quality. Ideal candidates should have:
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar solutions.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
