About The Role
We are seeking a candidate that is based on the East Coast, US.
Valo is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team to build our large-scale computational platform for drug discovery. You will collaborate on a cross-functional team of software and Machine Learning engineers to scale real-world data research environments and our state-of-the-art computational chemistry system for both our external partnership and internal drug programs. In addition, you will be working closely with our Data Science and Medicinal Chemistry teams to reinvent the process of discovering new drug candidates. Our tech stack is a combination of Python, Java, and React with infrastructure components such as Pulumi for IaC, EKS, and Gitlab all running on a multi-account AWS environment.
What You’ll Do…
- Collaborate with Platform Engineers and Data Scientists to design and implement Valo Health’s Software infrastructure and architecture in multiple environments
- Execute Software and Infrastructure maintenance tasks
- Create tools and processes to incrementally allow self-service by users to decrease the overall support burden and empower users
- Collaborate with data scientists, medicinal chemists and other stakeholders to drive projects in a highly cross-functional environment
- Troubleshoot and improve Valo Health’s Software infrastructure
- Foster a collaborative, agile, outcome-focused, team culture
What You Bring...
- 4+ years experience in infrastructure and platform software engineering
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years experience writing clean and functional code in Python or Java
- Experience developing systems on Kubernetes and major cloud providers
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code best practices such as Pulumi or Terraform
- Track record of strong analytical skills and problem solving
- Strong communication skills with users in backgrounds ranging from Data Science, Chemistry, Biology, Data Engineering, and Software Engineering
You May Also Have...
- Experience developing systems on AWS
- Experience with GitLab or GitHub administration
- Experience with large-scale refactors and migrations
- Experience with ML production systems and Snowflake
- A background in drug discovery
Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
