The Govtech team builds rich and creative features that set the standard for the ride sharing industry. We are seeking a highly motivated, mid-career software engineer to contribute to the development of features that facilitate Lyft's entry into new markets, ensure the company's adherence to local regulatory requirements, and utilize the latest AI technologies to enhance the user experience. Ownership is a key quality for this team; this person should be driven to track a project to successful completion and beyond, taking initiative to work with other teams and functions to ensure the code they write reaches users and drives impact. 

As a Software Engineer for Govtech, you’ll be responsible for executing integrations with partners, making tradeoffs between technical investments and product work, and collaborating with other engineers on system design. You will help shape the product direction by developing a deep understanding of the customer and working closely with cross-functional partners from Product, Design, Science, and Operations. You will work with a group of talented engineers and help the team to deliver significant business impact. Responsibilities:
  • Help establish roadmap and architecture based on technology and understanding of customer needs
  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
  • Can help lead large projects from idea to positive execution
  • Unblock, support and communicate with external and internal partners to achieve results
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
  • Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and promoting appropriate tech and engineering best practices
Experience:
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience with high-level programming languages; experience with Python and Go is a plus.
  • BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong background in distributed systems, and proficient in relational or NoSQL databases.
  • Proven experience in designing, debugging, and managing fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, etc.)
  • Preferred: 
    • Experience with machine learning and building LLM applications
    • Nice to have: proficiency in AI tools.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the Seattle area is $128,000 - $160,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
