The Mobile App Quality Platform team is responsible for building and operating internal platform capabilities that help mobile teams ship high-quality app experiences with speed and confidence. This role offers strong opportunities for technical growth and ownership in a critical area of the business - helping ensure every mobile release is reliable, welltested, and ready for pet parents and partners who depend on Chewy every day.
What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain mobile automation frameworks using Java and Appium
  • Implement platform features that improve mobile build validation, test execution, reporting, and release readiness
  • Own and improve CI/CD pipelines for mobile app builds, test automation, and release processes using Jenkins or equivalent tooling
  • Collaborate with iOS and Android engineers to integrate automated quality gates into the mobile release process
  • Write clean, readable, well-tested code following established patterns and best practices
  • Participate in code reviews and design discussions, incorporating feedback to improve solutions
  • Help identify and troubleshoot automation, build, pipeline, and release issues across mobile platforms
  • Write and update documentation for platform behavior, automation workflows, pipeline usage, and release processes
  • Take ownership of assigned stories and deliverables, communicating progress and risks clearly

What You'll Need
  • Professional experience developing software using Java
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with mobile app test automation using Appium
  • Experience building, maintaining, or integrating CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or equivalent tools
  • Mobile app development experience with iOS and/or Android, including an understanding of mobile build and release processes
  • Experience designing and maintaining automated test frameworks or quality engineering platforms
  • Familiarity with mobile application architecture, app lifecycle, debugging, and platform-specific constraints
  • Experience working with build systems, test execution workflows, and automated validation processes
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with mobile engineers, quality engineers, and release partners • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing mobile applications using Kotlin and/or Swift
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Experience with mobile app build processes, signing, versioning, release candidates, and app store release workflows
  • Experience supporting release engineering workflows for iOS and Android applications
  • Experience improving automated test reliability, execution speed, reporting, and failure diagnostics
  • Understanding of Agile development practices
  • Exposure to monitoring, observability, or reporting tools used to track automation, pipeline, or release health
  • Experience building internal developer platforms, tools, or frameworks that improve engineering productivity
  • Experience with AI-assisted application development or AI-powered engineering workflows • GitHub Spec Kit experience is an added advantage

The base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $190,000.00.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
