Overview

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

The Purview Integration platform team will make Purview protections native across Microsoft apps and AI surfaces. It aims to replace fragmented integrations and inconsistent enforcement with shared infrastructure and measurable coverage. · Shared protection platform: The team would provide a common SDK and integration contract for DLP enforcement, classification signals, RMS encryption and usage rights, plus telemetry and onboarding tools. Its planned reach includes Office apps, Outlook, Copilot surfaces, Autopilot and future agent harnesses. Milestones include a Q1 SDK, two adopted surfaces in Q2, and later work on policy parity, protected AI output, self-service onboarding, coverage telemetry and performance; numeric targets remain placeholders. Ownership and delivery model: The proposed team includes an engineering manager and specialists for the SDK, AI harnesses, Office and Outlook, telemetry and reliability, and onboarding. It would embed during each surface’s first integration and own the contract, SDK and conformance bar; Purview core teams retain policy semantics, while surface teams own UX and rollout after conformance.

Responsibilities
  •  Drive platform strategy and roadmap: Deliver the SDK integrations across multiple Microsoft surfaces, protecting the data and enforcing data security for AI applications, harnesses and agents. Partner across surfaces and Purview teams

Guides team on proactively taking responsibility for the content of their AI-generated requirements, design documents, code, and other assets, and assisting other members of the team to do the same.
  • Design - Guides others on owning and leading efforts and discussions for architecture of aspects of complex products/solutions (e.g., design, cost). Looks for opportunities to leverage and incorporate open-source, off-the-shelf components and/or preexisting, managed services as part of the design of products/architecture.
  • Coding - Reviews debugging tools, tests, logs, telemetry, and other methods, and acts as an expert for others to proactively verify assumptions while developing code before issues occur across products in production.
  • Measure coverage, reliability and performance: Use telemetry to track protection coverage, reliability and performance, and report on them to leadership.
  • Manage, coach, care and grow: Set clear ownership and priorities for the ICs, and coach them through regular feedback. Look after team wellbeing, and grow each person's skills and career.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. - 4+ years people management experience.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
