What You’ll Do:

The Customer Experience (CX) Organization at CoreWeave is dedicated to ensuring every client running AI workloads at scale has a seamless, reliable, and high-performance experience. This team supports the infrastructure that powers the AI revolution—working across data centers, hardware systems, and customer workloads to maintain the integrity of our cloud platform. The CX organization aligns closely with the internal and customer engineering teams, offering valuable insights from the field and having the chance to contribute to the CoreWeave product roadmap and development.

About the role

Training and inference at CoreWeave's scale depend on storage keeping thousands of GPUs fed. As a Senior Specialist Field Engineer for Storage, you'll help customers get the most from shared file storage, object storage, local NVMe, and dedicated storage built for a single customer. You'll work closely with the Storage product and engineering teams, and what you learn in the field will help shape what they build.

In this role, you will:
  • Design storage architecture for complex customers (shared filesystems, object storage, caching, multi-tenant isolation, cross-region data), including how it fails and what each failure affects.
  • Troubleshoot problems from the application's I/O pattern down through the NFS client, the CSI driver, the storage network, and the storage cluster itself.
  • Find where the product falls short for real workloads and work the gap through with engineering, as an extended member of the Storage team.
  • Lead customer technical overviews, proofs of concept, and customer workshops, with occasional travel.
Who You Are:
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years building or operating large-scale storage systems, as a storage, systems, or software engineer, or in a deeply technical storage-focused field role.
  • Solid working knowledge of NFS (v3 and v4, mount options such as nconnect, failure modes) and S3-compatible object storage.
  • Hands-on experience with a distributed or parallel filesystem such as VAST, WEKA, Lustre, or Spectrum Scale.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes storage: CSI drivers, PVs, PVCs, and StorageClasses, and how to troubleshoot them.
  • Very comfortable benchmarking with tools like fio and reading the results, and telling a metadata-bound workload from a bandwidth-bound one.
  • You explain technical problems clearly to engineers and executives, and you build trust with customers.
Preferred
  • Debugging NFS over TCP at scale, including storage problems that turn out to be network problems (retransmits, stale routes, overlay versus underlay).
  • Experience with storage for AI workloads: streaming training data, checkpointing at scale, and read caching.
  • Diagnosing failures that only show up at scale, such as lock exhaustion under heavy concurrency or rename races corrupting checkpoints.
  • Comfortable reading storage system source code to tie production behavior to the code, and able to fix small bugs.
  • Contributions to storage open source (kernel NFS, Lustre, Ceph, CSI drivers) or published work on filesystem design or storage performance.
You'll fit here if...
  • You'd rather measure the I/O pattern than guess at it.
  • You're comfortable saying "I don't know yet," and then you go find out.
  • You like working on a hard problem alongside the customer and the engineering team, and you share the credit.
Wondering if you're a good fit?

We believe in investing in our people, and value candidates who bring their own experiences to our teams - even if you aren't a 100% skill or experience match. If some of this describes you, we'd love to talk.

  • You love to help solve challenging technical problems
  • You’re curious about the latest and greatest technologies in the AI space
  • You’re an expert in managing conflict and achieving mutually beneficial technical outcomes

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
