The Sr. Claims Consultant for Private Risk Management is a recognized expert in managing personal lines insurance claims on behalf of high-net-worth individuals and families. This role serves as a trusted advisor and advocate for PRM clients navigating complex claims scenarios across their personal asset portfolios — including primary and secondary residences, luxury automobiles, watercraft, fine art, jewelry, and excess liability. The Sr. Claims Consultant operates with a high degree of autonomy, brings deep technical knowledge of high-value personal lines claims, and is relied upon as a mentor and resource within the PRM team. Building strong, trust-based relationships with clients, carrier partners, and colleagues is essential to success in this role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with high-net-worth clients and their carrier relationships to establish claims protocols that ensure timely reporting, appropriate notification, and favorable resolution across personal lines coverages.

  • Conduct proactive claims reviews with clients and carrier partners to monitor handling quality, reserve accuracy, and settlement standards.

  • Serve as a dedicated claims advocate and liaison for PRM clients, guiding them through the complexity of high-value or disputed claims with clarity and confidence.

  • Regularly monitor individual claims within PRM client portfolios, ensuring reserves and records reflect current status and industry best practices.

  • Act as a concierge-level point of contact during active claims, coordinating with carriers, adjusters, and restoration or specialty vendors on the client's behalf.

  • Contribute to new business development and retention by attending client meetings and articulating Baldwin's approach to claims advocacy and risk mitigation for personal lines clients.

  • Collaborate with PRM Advisors and the Director of Risk Mitigation to provide timely claims summaries, status updates, and outcome reporting.

  • Stay current on trends and developments in high-net-worth personal lines claims, including catastrophic property events, emerging liability exposures, and carrier claims handling practices.

  • Serve as a mentor to junior colleagues on the PRM team, sharing technical expertise in personal lines claims management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical knowledge of personal lines claims, including high-value homeowners, auto, watercraft, collections, and personal excess/umbrella liability.

  • Familiarity with the claims practices and service standards of premier personal lines carriers including Chubb, PURE, AIG Private Client, Cincinnati, and others.

  • Ability to analyze claims trends across a client's personal portfolio to identify cost drivers and recommend proactive risk mitigation strategies.

  • Skilled at communicating complex claims information clearly and compassionately to clients who may be in stressful or urgent situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and advocate on behalf of clients in negotiations with carriers and adjusters.

  • Collaborative approach to working with PRM Advisors, Client Relations, and carrier partners.

  • Professional and persuasive communication style, both verbal and written, across all levels of the firm and a diverse client base.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, agency management systems, and claims tracking tools.

  • Demonstrated alignment with Baldwin's core values and a service philosophy consistent with the expectations of a high-net-worth clientele.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Professional designations such as AIC, SCLA, CPCU, or ARM are preferred.

  • A minimum of 3+ years of claims experience is required, with preference for candidates who have worked directly with high-net-worth personal lines clients or in a client-facing claims advocacy role.

  • Experience with premier personal lines carriers or a Private Client practice at a peer firm is a significant plus.

  • This is a fast-paced, multi-tasking role; some travel may be required for client meetings and claims site visits.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
