Position Overview 

ThriftBooks is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain our primary customer-facing ecommerce applications. In this role, you will work closely with a collaborative and highly motivated engineering team to deliver scalable, high-quality software that directly supports business growth. You will contribute to technical decisions, mentor other engineers, and help shape the evolution of our platform. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Build features for thriftbooks.com. These are usually a mix of C#, React, and SQL Server.  

  • Maintain performance, scalability, and reliability across thriftbooks.com features and infrastructure 

  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical standards and best practices 

  • Review code, provide constructive feedback, mentor other engineers 

  • Troubleshoot, debug, participate in on-call rotations, and resolve production issues as needed 

LOCATION 

This is a hybrid position with in-person days in Tukwila, WA or remote in Phoenix, AZ. 

BASE SALARY: 

$120,000 - $145,000/yr. This range reflects the good-faith hiring base salary range for this position. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, experience, and education/training.

Qualifications

What You Will Need: 

  • 5 or more years of professional experience developing web applications – with a preference for React, C#, SQL, Next.js 

  • Strong experience with relational databases, including schema design, complex queries, and performance optimization 

  • Solid understanding of full-stack web development, including strong understanding of how browsers and the internet work 

  • Strong foundation in object-oriented programming concepts and design patterns 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with Terraform, Bicep, GitHub, Azure Devops, Azure, React, C#, SQL, CSS, Elastic, Redis. 

  • Experience building large B2C responsive and mobile-optimized web applications. 

  • Demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and improving software craftsmanship 

  • Experience with industry standard cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), CI/CD tools, and software infrastructure fundamentals
