Role overview

Dual North America is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Product Owner with deep expertise in insurance underwriting and rating platform development. This role is ideal for a strategic, technically fluent product leader who can translate business needs into scalable solutions, drive delivery across complex ecosystems, and partner closely with underwriting, technology, and architecture teams. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in SAFe® 6.0 or Agile delivery, Azure DevOps, and cross‑functional facilitation.

Role responsibilities

Product Leadership & Strategy

  • Own and evolve the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for underwriting and rating platform capabilities.

  • Partner with underwriting leadership to define business needs, refine requirements, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Translate complex underwriting workflows and rating logic into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.

Backlog & Delivery Management

  • Lead backlog prioritization using data, business value, and technical considerations.

  • Work closely with technical development and integration teams to ensure clarity of requirements and timely delivery of features.

  • Manage PI planning activities within a SAFe environment, ensuring alignment across teams and ARTs.

  • Monitor delivery progress, remove impediments, and ensure high‑quality planning increments.

Technical & Architectural Collaboration

  • Collaborate with solution architects to ensure designs align with enterprise architecture, integration patterns, and scalability standards.

  • Understand and guide discussions around rating engines, data flows, APIs, and integration points.

  • Evaluate technical trade‑offs and support decision‑making across engineering and business stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation

  • Facilitate cross‑functional discussions with underwriting, operations, IT, and leadership to gather feedback and drive consensus.

  • Communicate product status, risks, and decisions clearly to senior stakeholders.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business teams and technical delivery teams.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure delivered functionality meets business expectations through strong acceptance testing and validation.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline underwriting workflows, improve rating accuracy, and enhance user experience.

  • Champion Agile and SAFe best practices across teams.

Continuous Improvement & Lean Practices

  • Apply Lean methodologies or other process improvement frameworks to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve delivery efficiency.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting processes, rating accuracy, and user experience.

  • Promote Agile and SAFe best practices across teams.

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience. preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in insurance technology.

  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance underwriting, rating methodologies, and policy lifecycle.

  • Hands‑on experience with rating development platforms (e.g., Guidewire Rating, Ratabase, custom engines).

  • Experience with SAFe® 6.0 or Agile delivery frameworks.

  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps for backlog management and delivery tracking.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead delivery from requirements through rollout, including UAT.

  • Familiarity with solution architecture concepts, including integrations, APIs, and data flows.

  • Experience in P&C commercial lines (Property, Casualty, Specialty) preferred.

  • Background with underwriting workbenches or submission platforms preferred.

  • SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification preferred.

  • Experience applying Lean or process improvement methodologies.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, with occasional movement in the office to access cabinets and equipment
