Summary

Staff Developer Advocate, Developer Tooling & Adoption plays a strategic role in driving the growth and adoption of Temporal among enterprise developers and ensuring their success. This role focuses on architecting and building high-quality, enterprise-grade tools, prescriptive demos, and production-ready reference architectures that make it easier to adopt Temporal at scale in complex production environments.  You’ll combine strong engineering and solutions-architecture skills with an advocate’s empathy, solving real developer challenges, simplifying distributed-system adoption, and ensuring that the path from POC to production is prescriptive and seamless. This role sits at the intersection of Engineering, Developer Relations, and Solutions Architects. You will develop reusable technical content and assets, analyze enterprise requirements to shape developer experience strategy, and collaborate across functions to ensure consistent, high-quality integrations and guidance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Architect and develop interactive, enterprise-scenario-based tutorials and solution accelerators that accelerate developer understanding of Temporal, delivering immediate clarity for developers that translate to faster enterprise adoption.
  • Produce high-quality tools, demos and technical content, targeted at developers facing challenges in resilience, distributed systems, service orchestration, and beyond. Your work will involve developing tools, producing demos, blog posts, tutorials, guides, diagrams and videos, directly addressing developers' pain points and queries.
  • Partner with the Go-to-Market (GTM) team to pioneer Temporal's entry into new verticals by analyzing their unique distributed systems challenges and architect the foundational, prescriptive solutions that will drive industry-wide adoption.
  • Use data to inform our tooling and content efforts, helping evaluate what’s working well and iterating as we learn.
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and sales to ensure consistent, high-quality tooling, content, and messaging.
  • Engage with the developer community through Slack, forums, social media, and international conferences, acting as a senior technical face and voice for Temporal.
  • Help gather structured customer feedback for product and engineering teams based on deep customer and community interactions, helping to influence product development.

What You’ll Bring

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years as a Senior or Staff Software Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Developer Advocate with a strong understanding of developer tooling, complex distributed systems, state management, and workflow execution
  • Empathy for the problems faced by developers and motivated by helping others succeed.
  • Ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and represent technical work to both internal and external audiences.
  • Self-motivated, with a creative and analytical mindset.
  • Proficiency in one or more of our SDK languages, distributed systems, state management, and workflow execution.
Compensation
  •
The estimated pay range for this role is $170,000 - $215,000.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Temporal's equity plan.
Compensation ranges reflect salary and commission compensation (when applicable) across several geographic markets. Employment offers carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, knowledge, expertise, skillset, market location, and job level assessed during the interview process.

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
