About the Role

As a Senior Developer Relations Engineer on the Software Engineering team, you'll bridge the gap between Carbon's engineering teams and our manufacturing and developer community. It is critical in manufacturing that integrations via our APIs remain resilient and healthy. You'll help shape our developer experience strategy while creating resources that enable developers to successfully integrate with our platform. At Carbon, we understand the nuances of Developer Relations roles, and this role is considered important and necessary by everyone in engineering.

You will...

  • Design and deliver technical content including documentation, tutorials, sample applications, and integration guides for Carbon's APIs and development tools
  • Build and maintain relationships with key developers and partners in the additive manufacturing ecosystem
  • Create and present technical demonstrations and workshops at conferences, meetups, and other developer events
  • Gather developer feedback and advocate for their needs internally to help improve our products and APIs
  • Develop proof-of-concept applications and reference implementations that showcase best practices
  • Mentor other developer advocates and business development teams and contribute to team strategy
You have...
  • 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a developer relations or similar technical customer-facing role
  • Strong programming skills in multiple languages (Python, Rust, TypeScript, C++, etc.)
  • Experience with REST APIs, gRPC, SDK development, and developer tools
  • Excellent ability to explain complex technical concepts to colleagues and customers
  • Track record of creating developer content (blogs, tutorials, talks, videos, docs, …)
  • Background in 3D printing, CAD, or manufacturing technology is a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 5-10% for developer events and conferences
Impact

We consider this role to be absolutely critical. You'll be crucial in growing Carbon's developer ecosystem and enabling customers to maximize the potential of our platform. You will do this by helping create resilient integrations and customer applications. These applications are changing human lives and the future, and you will contribute directly to this. Thank you for considering this role, and for considering Carbon.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
