As a technical leader, you will drive cloud infrastructure, automation, platform engineering, and reliability initiatives while partnering across Engineering, Security, Architecture, and Product teams. You will help improve developer experience, strengthen security, increase platform reliability, and advance operational excellence.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in AWS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability, cloud security, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), along with a passion for mentoring engineers, solving complex challenges, and leveraging emerging technologies—including AI-powered tooling and automation—to improve engineering productivity.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, build, and operate scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure across AWS.

  • Lead platform engineering initiatives that improve developer productivity, deployment velocity, and operational efficiency.

  • Drive Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform and help establish reusable patterns and engineering standards.

  • Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and self-service platform capabilities.

  • Improve observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response practices.

  • Partner with engineering teams to improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and resilience.

  • Collaborate with Security teams to strengthen cloud security, infrastructure hardening, access management, and compliance initiatives.

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, automation opportunities, and AI-powered engineering tools.

  • Lead technical discussions, architectural reviews, and infrastructure design decisions across teams.

  • Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth of DevOps, Platform Engineering, and SRE practices.

What We Are Looking For:

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or related disciplines.

  • Deep hands-on experience designing, operating, and securing AWS environments.

  • Strong expertise with Terraform; experience with Terramate or similar infrastructure orchestration tools is a plus.

  • Experience managing containerized workloads using ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or similar platforms.

  • Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI, or similar tools.

  • Experience with observability platforms such as New Relic, Datadog, CloudWatch, or OpenTelemetry.

  • Strong understanding of networking, cloud security, identity management, and distributed systems.

  • Experience with automation and scripting using Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical direction across teams.

  • Proven ability to lead infrastructure initiatives and mentor engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating large-scale, multi-account AWS environments.

  • Experience building internal developer platforms and self-service infrastructure solutions.

  • Experience implementing SRE practices including SLOs, SLIs, and reliability metrics.

  • Experience supporting cloud security, compliance, and governance initiatives.

  • Familiarity with AI-powered developer tooling, automation platforms, or cloud-native AI services.

  • AWS Professional, Security Specialty, Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar cloud certifications.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Drive platform architecture decisions that improve scalability, reliability, security, and developer experience.

  • Lead impactful infrastructure and platform initiatives from design through implementation.

  • Establish engineering standards, automation, and operational best practices across teams.

  • Mentor engineers and elevate the organization's technical capabilities.

  • Help shape the long-term cloud, platform, and reliability strategy for A Place for Mom.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
