Role Overview

At G2i, we don’t just hire for AI — we build with it. We partner with leading AI labs and technical founders to create next-generation developer platforms, data tools, and operational dashboards that power the AI frontier.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll set technical direction and raise the execution bar while building a high-performing team. You’ll guide architecture and delivery across modern full-stack systems (React 19 + Node.js), build durable engineering practices, and ensure we ship fast without sacrificing quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow an engineering team: hiring, coaching, performance management, career development.

  • Set and evolve technical strategy for developer platforms, dashboards, and internal tooling.

  • Partner with Product/Design to deliver roadmap outcomes with high velocity and strong craftsmanship.

  • Establish engineering standards: code quality, testing, documentation, security, and operational excellence.

  • Own delivery health: sprint/iteration hygiene, predictable execution, and strong on-call/incident practices.

  • Drive architecture decisions across front-end, back-end (tRPC encouraged), and deployment (Docker + CI/CD).

  • Build a culture of ownership, feedback, and continuous improvement across teams.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 7+ years building software, including 2–4+ years leading teams (EM/Tech Lead/Head of Eng).

  • Strong full-stack understanding (React + Node.js), modern front-end patterns, SSR/performance, API design.

  • Experience with shipping and operating production systems (cloud, CI/CD, observability, incident management).

  • Proven ability to balance speed with quality in startup environments.

  • Clear communicator with strong judgment and a track record of developing engineers.

Compensation & Terms

  • 120 – 200USD/Hr, based on experience and location

  • Contract leadership roles considered (up to 6 months)

  • Remote-first, global team

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
