What You'll Do:
- Lead large-scale architecture initiatives and influence the mobile technical strategy across teams
- Own and evolve hybrid architecture strategies, including WebView performance, integration patterns, and linking between native and web layers
- Design, build, and maintain reusable Swift components and core systems used across the Chewy iOS app
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and design leadership to define and complete mobile product goals
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to iOS engineers, encouraging a culture of learning, accountability, and engineering excellence
- Drive code quality through rigorous peer reviews, automated testing, and development standard methodologies
- Identify performance bottlenecks and lead efforts to improve app reliability, startup time, and runtime efficiency
- Evangelize engineering standards, architectural patterns (e.g. MVVM, Coordinators), and scalable development workflows
- Stay ahead of iOS platform updates and champion the adoption of new tools, frameworks (e.g. SwiftUI, Combine), and approaches
- Contribute to and help maintain the CI/CD pipelines and code signing infrastructure for the iOS platform
- Partner with QA and automation engineers to ensure robust test coverage and high release confidence
What You'll Need:
- 8+ years of professional experience developing native iOS applications using Swift
- Deep expertise in hybrid mobile architectures and WebView integration, including performance optimization, offline fallback strategies, and native-web communication bridges
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture design and driving technical decisions across teams
- Strong understanding of modern iOS frameworks, patterns, and developer tools
- History of delivering high-quality apps at scale, with frequent App Store releases
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence without authority
- Passion for mentoring and supporting other engineers in their growth
- Deep experience with Git, pull request workflows, and branching strategies
- Experience with Cocoapods or Swift Package Manager for dependency management
- Consistent record of writing and implementing unit, integration, and UI tests
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, distributed, and collaborative environment
Bonus:
- Experience building Universal or iPad-first apps
- Deep knowledge of accessibility and UI/UX standard processes
- Experience profiling and resolving memory and performance issues with Xcode Instruments
- Familiarity with SwiftUI, Combine, or other modern iOS frameworks
- Experience working in Agile environments using tools like Jira or Confluence
- Hands-on experience managing iOS CI pipelines and code signing infrastructure (e.g., Fastlane, Xcode Cloud, GitHub Actions)
