Position Overview
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join the team building financial tools that help contractors manage and grow their businesses. In this role, you’ll design and scale backend services that support critical business operations, including payments and other financial workflows. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver secure, reliable tools that reduce operational friction and give contractors greater control over their finances.
What You'll Do
- Architect, design, and evolve scalable, high-performance APIs and backend services for contractor financial tools
- Build secure and reliable capabilities that support payments and other financial workflows
- Integrate with internal and external systems while keeping services maintainable and extensible
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Finance, Risk, and Operations to translate business needs into resilient technical solutions
- Drive the full software development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and post-launch support
- Mentor and guide engineers across the team, setting high standards for system design, security, scalability, and code quality
- Champion operational excellence through strong practices around observability, documentation, monitoring, alerting, and incident response
What You Bring
- 8+ years of software development experience, with deep backend expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
- Strong system design skills, with experience building scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems and APIs
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, leadership-oriented mindset
- Passion for clean, maintainable code, mentoring others, and continuous improvement
Bonus Points
- Experience building B2B SaaS, financial technology, or business operations products
- Experience with event-driven architectures, domain-driven design, or complex third-party integrations
