Here at Scout Motors, we're carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history. A vehicle dating back to 1960. One that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and trucks and will do so once again.

But Scout is more than just a brand, it’s a legacy steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work.

The Scout brand is all about respect. Respect for the past and the future by taking an iconic American brand that hasn’t been around for a while, electrifying it, digitizing it, and loading it with American innovation. Respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and its customers. Respect for both work and play, with vehicles that are equally at home at a camp site, a job site, or on a Tuesday commute. And respect for our customers by developing two powertrains that meet their requirements — an all-electric powertrain as well as the Harvester™ range extender powertrain which includes a built-in gas-powered generator with an estimated 500 miles of combined range.

At Scout Motors, we empower our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams to innovate. What makes a Scout employee? Overview
The Utilities & Tools team builds scalable digital products that provide horizontal support across the company. Our products enable a range of business units and product teams to operate more effectively, move faster, and scale with confidence.

As a Staff Technical Product Manager, you will own a portfolio of internal platform products that help teams manage fleets, individual vehicles, locations, and access to shared operational resources. You will define how these resources are represented, assigned, tracked, governed, and used across the business, partnering with engineering and internal stakeholders to turn complex operational needs into reliable, scalable tools.

As Staff Technical Product Manager, you'll own a portfolio of tools for managing internal fleets, individual vehicles, Scout locations, and the shared operational resources teams depend on, plus the access model that governs all of it.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Manager of Digital Products. You will work across a portfolio that includes greenfield product development and existing internal tools, requiring strategic clarity, strong product judgment, and a bias toward practical solutions that improve day-to-day operations.

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

Fleet, vehicle, location, and resource management

  • Own products that help internal teams track, manage, allocate, and use fleets, individual vehicles, locations, and other assets critical to supporting operational capacity. Define the workflows, data models, business rules, and integrations that help teams answer practical questions: what resources exist, where they are, who can use them, how they are assigned, and whether they are being fully utilized.

Asset access controls

  • Define and drive product capabilities that determine who can view, assign, access, or operate vehicles, locations, and other related operational resources. Build practical access models that support internal users, partners, and customers while keeping resource use governed, auditable, and aligned with business rules.

Cross-functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Security and Compliance, Legal, operations teams, and customer-facing stakeholders. Influence architecture and product direction without direct authority, align teams around roadmap priorities, and make tradeoffs that balance operational usability, governance, scalability, and delivery speed.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be fully remote within the United States.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
What you’ll bring

We expect all Scout employees to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset. You’ll be comfortable with change and flexible in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You’ll take a collaborative approach to achieve ambitious goals. Here's what else you'll bring:

  • 8+ years of product management experience, with a strong track record owning complex internal tools, enterprise SaaS products, operational platforms, or B2B systems used by multiple teams and stakeholder groups. Experience with fleet operations, asset management, location-based operations, permissions, workflow tooling, or resource allocation systems is strongly preferred. Experience operating in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments is valuable.

Domain Expertise

  • Depth in an operationally heavy domain: fleet, logistics, supply chain, field service, inventory, or similar. You understand why "where is it and who has it" is harder than it sounds at scale.
  • Working fluency with access models: role- and attribute-based permissions, provisioning and deprovisioning, audit trails. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be able to make architectural tradeoffs, push back when warranted, and earn the trust of senior engineers.
  • Proven ability to align security, engineering, legal, operations, and commercial stakeholders around a direction without reporting authority over any of them.

Preferred

  • Identity protocols and platforms: SAML, OIDC, SCIM, Okta or Microsoft Entra ID
  • Experience in SOC 2 or GDPR-regulated environments
  • Zero Trust architecture principles
  • Non-human identity patterns: service accounts and scoped permissions for AI agents and automated services
  • Automotive, manufacturing, or multi-site operations background

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
