What It's Like

Our team builds and evolves InsightBot, an in-house AI chatbot designed to improve how employees access insights, data, and institutional knowledge across T-Mobile. We focus on transforming complex processes—such as onboarding, access requests, and day-to-day operational questions—into intuitive, self-service AI experiences. By partnering closely with leadership, data teams, and platform owners, we reduce friction, speed up productivity, and scale knowledge that would otherwise live in silos. Our work directly impacts employee efficiency, onboarding speed, and the overall adoption of AI-driven ways of working at T-Mobile.

What You'll Do

The intern will work on expanding InsightBot’s Onboarding Help capabilities by partnering with leadership teams to understand how new employees are onboarded across the organization. They will conduct interviews, document onboarding processes, access requirements, and collaboration models, and translate that information into structured context for our in-house AI chatbot. The intern will apply context and prompt engineering techniques to improve how InsightBot answers real onboarding questions. Their work will directly improve new-hire productivity, reduce onboarding friction, and help establish a scalable, AI-driven onboarding experience at T-Mobile.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with leadership and team members to gather onboarding requirements, workflows, and access needs.
  • Create clear, standardized onboarding documentation including team overviews, access guides, and step-by-step permission processes.
  • Translate onboarding knowledge into structured context and prompt designs for the InsightBot AI chatbot.
  • Test, refine, and improve InsightBot’s onboarding responses using real-world onboarding scenarios.
  • Partner with product, data, and platform stakeholders to ensure onboarding guidance is accurate, scalable, and easy to maintain.

What It Takes

  • Coursework or hands-on experience in AI, machine learning, prompt engineering, conversational AI, or knowledge management.
  • Experience documenting processes, onboarding workflows, or operational playbooks in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to structure ambiguous information into clear guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience working across technical and non-technical teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelors or Graduate degree program
  • Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for Internships

Employer does not sponsor work visas for this position. Note that this also applies to individuals who are students in F-1 status who desire sponsorship after they complete their education.

Relocation assistance may be provided to program participants who reside more than 50 miles from the internship location.

Intern wages range from $26/hour to $47/hour. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on education/STEM vs non-STEM designation.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
