T-Mobile is synonymous with innovation–and you could be part of the team that disrupted an entire industry! We reinvented customer service, brought real 5G to the nation, and now we’re shaping the future of technology in wireless and beyond. Our work is as exciting as it is rewarding, so consider the career opportunity below as your invitation to grow with us, make big things happen with us, above all, #BEYOU with us. Together, we won’t stop!

Get hands-on experience, training—and a leg up on a bright future.

T-Mobile didn’t become a leader by following the playbook. We got here by breaking it. We’re a disruptor that now plays on a higher tier, and we’re still raising the bar for millions of customers nationwide. If you want to work somewhere that sets the standard instead of matching it, this is your place.
This is an 11-week paid learning experience where you’ll do real work, not busywork. You’ll build relationships with other interns and leaders across the company, and you’ll be paired with mentors who will challenge you to grow skills that matter. We’ll give you hands-on projects with real stakes, and we expect your creativity and sharp ideas to make an immediate impact. You’ll work alongside T-Mobile employees who have your back and who still believe the best ideas can come from anyone.

What It's Like:

Help shape how AI agents and developer tools can make software engineering at T-Mobile more effective. This internship focuses on the intersection of software engineering, large language models, and practical workflow automation. Work may span agent integrations, developer experience, testing, and evaluation, with an emphasis on reliable and maintainable solutions. You will collaborate with engineers to turn real workflow problems into working prototypes and use evidence to understand where AI helps and where human judgment remains essential.

What You'll Do:

Build a scoped AI agent or developer-tooling project that addresses a concrete engineering workflow. Implement integrations with approved APIs or tools, add automated tests and evaluation cases, and instrument the solution so its behavior can be inspected and debugged. Compare results against a baseline to assess correctness, usefulness, and failure modes. Document your design decisions, incorporate feedback, and demonstrate the resulting prototype along with clear recommendations for next steps.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with engineers to define a focused use case, requirements, and measurable success criteria.
• Build and test agent tools, API integrations, or developer workflow automations using Python and/or TypeScript.
• Create evaluation datasets and regression tests to measure quality and identify failure modes.
• Add logging and tracing to investigate errors, latency, and tool behavior while following data-handling and security requirements.
• Document implementation choices, share progress, and deliver a working demonstration and handoff.

What It Takes:

Foundational programming skills in Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript, demonstrated through coursework, research, personal projects, or equivalent experience. Familiarity with Git, APIs, debugging, and automated testing. Interest in LLMs, AI agents, and developer experience, plus a willingness to test assumptions and critically review AI-generated code and outputs. Ability to break down ambiguous problems, communicate clearly, and collaborate on feedback. Exposure to agent frameworks, MCP, RAG, evaluation tools, CI/CD, or cloud platforms is helpful but not required. No specific certifications are preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future
  • Must have one or more course(s) remaining in a Bachelors or Graduate degree program post internship
  • Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for external Summer Internships, please see Magenta Accelerator if interested

Relocation assistance will be provided to program participants who reside more than 50 miles from the internship location.

Intern wages range from $27/hour to $50/hour. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on education/STEM vs non-STEM designation.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
