T-Mobile is synonymous with innovation–and you could be part of the team that disrupted an entire industry! We reinvented customer service, brought real 5G to the nation, and now we’re shaping the future of technology in wireless and beyond. Our work is as exciting as it is rewarding, so consider the career opportunity below as your invitation to grow with us, make big things happen with us, above all, #BEYOU with us. Together, we won’t stop!

Get hands-on experience, training—and a leg up on a bright future.

T-Mobile didn’t become a leader by following the playbook. We got here by breaking it. We’re a disruptor that now plays on a higher tier, and we’re still raising the bar for millions of customers nationwide. If you want to work somewhere that sets the standard instead of matching it, this is your place.
This is an 11-week paid learning experience where you’ll do real work, not busywork. You’ll build relationships with other interns and leaders across the company, and you’ll be paired with mentors who will challenge you to grow skills that matter. We’ll give you hands-on projects with real stakes, and we expect your creativity and sharp ideas to make an immediate impact. You’ll work alongside T-Mobile employees who have your back and who still believe the best ideas can come from anyone.

What It’s Like

Our Physical & Edge AI team is small enough to be seen and big enough to matter. We sit at the intersection of 5G, AI, edge computing, and emerging technologies, working with technology, product, strategy, and external partners to shape what comes next. The pace is fast and highly collaborative. A typical week blends independent research, working sessions with cross-functional teammates, conversations with mentors, and sharing your findings with the people making decisions.

What You’ll Do

You’ll help us evaluate emerging opportunities in Physical & Edge AI, where intelligent devices, robotics, and autonomous systems interact with the real world. Your research, analysis, and recommendations will show where T-Mobile’s network capabilities create differentiated value and help shape the team’s priorities for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, key players, and growth opportunities in Physical & Edge AI
  • Develop strategic assessments and business cases, including market sizing, financial modeling, and evaluation of commercial opportunities
  • Research technology partners, startups, and ecosystem participants to assess strategic fit and partnership potential
  • Synthesize quantitative and qualitative findings into executive-ready presentations, recommendations, and decision frameworks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and business development activities

What It Takes

  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with a genuine interest in business strategy, emerging technologies, and market dynamics
  • Experience with case studies, market research, financial analysis, or strategic projects through coursework, internships, or extracurricular activities
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to build clear, compelling, data-driven recommendations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, initiative, and comfort navigating ambiguous problems. You challenge assumptions and move with urgency.
  • Interest in AI, robotics, autonomous systems, telecommunications, or edge computing is a plus. Prior technical expertise is not required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future
  • Must have one or more course(s) remaining in a Bachelors or Graduate degree program post internship
  • Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for external Summer Internships, please see Magenta Accelerator if interested

Relocation assistance will be provided to program participants who reside more than 50 miles from the internship location.

Intern wages range from $27/hour to $50/hour. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on education/STEM vs non-STEM designation.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
