Position Summary

The Supervisor, Business Analysis plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of activities related to the company’s business analysis functions. The role is primarily responsible, under limited supervision, for the oversight of a Business Analysis Team; as well as, eliciting, analyzing, validating, specifying, verifying, and managing the real needs of project stakeholders, including customers and end users from cross-functional departments. The Supervisor, Business Analysis serves as the conduit between the business and the Information Systems software development team through which requirements flow for complex projects.

Compensation 

This role is an exempt position with a Targeted Salary Range of $109,114 - $156,510.56 annually.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and provide direction to Business Analysis staff in the day-to-day operations, specific to the department they support (PMO, Operations, etc.).
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal commitment and accountability to the business and junior Business Analysts with a focus of quality and efficiencies.
  • Work with the project sponsor to document project objectives on all projects with higher complexity.
  • Analyze scope of project in order to identify project stakeholders.
  • Elicit project requirements through the use of interviews, document analysis, viewpoints, etc.
  • Write project requirements specifications and business rules according to standard templates; use natural language to simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely convey specifications.
  • Accurately define quality attributes, constraints, external interfaces, and other nonfunctional requirements.
  • Establish and implement effective testing strategies to appropriately assess final programming changes; work with other Business Analysts to identify cross impacts of final programming changes to other areas.
  • Document system changes in short narrative or diagram overviews including all business rules, use cases/user stories, and test scripts.
  • Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements and quality, specified in an appropriate level of detail.
  • Represent requirements using advanced alternative views via flowcharts, diagrams, or scenarios where appropriate; participate in business justification and the prioritization of proposed requirements.
  • Discover and encourage team to implement ways to reuse requirements across projects.
  • Participate in staff and/or peer reviews and inspection of requirements documents and corresponding work products; ensure that the requirements were interpreted correctly.
  • Responsible for tracking performance of direct reports, approving time off requests and delivering performance reviews.
  • Maintain effective requirements practices, including use and continuous improvement of requirements process. Assist with the development of the organization’s requirements engineering policies, procedures, and tools and ensure alignment to IT best practices.
  • Use expertise and knowledge to resolve issues escalated by junior, mid-level and senior-level teammates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum three years' experience to five years' experience in programming/system analysis.
  • Minimum two years supervisory or leadership experience
  • Relevant experience in mortgage lending and/or consumer lending technology; Experience in mortgage operations segment is highly preferred.
  • Experience leading /working with teams in agile setting, managing backlog/release plan, writing and collaborating on epics and user stories strongly preferred.
  • Analytical skills and a demonstrated talent for scrutinizing complex work processes and stream lining them for increased output; ability to abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding.
  • Modeling skills necessary to represent requirements information in graphical forms.
  • An understanding of how to practice requirements engineering according to several software development life cycles in a team environment (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, DevOps).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication required; able to effectively manage communication with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to interview subjects, facilitate group discussions, gather information, and report on results.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Wiki, Google docs, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications required.
  • Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and lead projects with a strong attention to detail.
  • Develop the Business Analysis team by way of knowledge share, experience and expertise.

Supervision

Requirements

Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.

Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.


Audio/Visual: Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation. Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio, e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.


Environmental:  Office environment – moderate noise, no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Mental: Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow. This role requires effective adaptation to workplace stressors, including customer service complaints, security responsibilities, and competing priorities. Must be able to adhere to process protocol. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.

Schedules: Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday.

Travel: 5% or less
