Position Overview
The Systems Specialist provides support in product integrations and customer-facing solutions across Adaptive’s application platforms. This role will assist with the configuration, implementation, and support off-the-shelf software products to support our research activities. This role will be very hands-on and directly engaged with wet lab researchers, onboarding new data streams within Benchling and collaborating across the organization to support system configurations for other off-the-shelf software to support teams such as Research, Supply Chain, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Participates in end-to-end software system configuration projects from initial conception to final delivery and post-delivery maintenance of the custom configurations (example systems: Benchling, ETQ Reliance).
- During design phase, align user needs with stakeholders.
- Design and build configurations within existing software systems, leveraging Confluence for documentation of process.
- Coordinate user testing as needed.
- Complete validation of systems via writing performance qualification protocols, executing PQ, and/or completing reports to finalize validation process.
- Identify areas for technical improvement, ensuring long-term maintainability and product scalability.
- Lead presentations and training sessions for cross-functional teams as it relates to new product deliveries. Work closely with teams to ensure smooth implementation of systems after delivery.
- Manages support tickets/emails submitted by end-users pertaining to system configurations.
- Provides troubleshooting expertise to end users, consulting with vendors as needed. Works with the vendor to troubleshoot and resolve application issues. Coordinates and communicates with impacted stakeholders as needed.
- Collaborate regularly with peers or cross-functional internal partners to integrate the software platforms with lab instrumentation, analysis workflows, and maintain inventory management systems.
- Collaborate with technical leaders and teammates to drive improvements in processes and tools while fostering a culture of excellence. Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve data-influenced decision making, improve efficiencies in processes, collaboration, and ultimately deliver better value to our organization and customers.
- Assist with designing, building, and managing reporting dashboards and models for key stakeholders (using Benchling, Tableau, Smartsheet, or other software).
- Collaborate with wet lab scientists to design experiments and analyze data as needed.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Other)
Required
- BS/BA degree + 2 years of relevant experience or MS/MA degree + 0 years of relevant experience working in a lab, using or doing build work in Benchling or Reliance, or programming.
- Solid understanding of laboratory operations and scientific workflows.
- Performs assigned work under general supervision, contributing to goals through technically guided execution and data collection.
- Solid communication skills, with the ability to collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams, peers, and cross-functional internal partners.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and propose solutions.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Detail oriented and displays problem-solving skills and the ability to improve solutions based on feedback.
- Self-driven and capable of prioritizing. Able to deliver on tight timelines when necessary.
- Willing to ask questions and share ideas that help improve the product or processes, even if it means challenging assumptions respectfully.
- Adaptability and openness to new challenges especially in a fast-paced, evolving field like biotech. The ability to pivot, handle ambiguity, and quickly learn new technologies or domains is important.
Preferred
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
- 1+ years of relevant programming experience (including Python).
- 1+ years of experience implementing and configuring Benchling ELN (particularly run schemas and complex workflows) or module development within ETQ Reliance.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to negotiate in a complex environment.
Working Conditions
- Job requires working in a lab and may require interaction with biological material including blood, bone marrow, and tissue. Work occasionally requires flexible and/or extended hours.
- Must have flexibility and willingness to work more than standard hours when necessary, including nights & weekends, etc.
Physical Requirements
Occasional work in labs, following all guidelines and protective measures.
Compensation
Salary Range: $80,200 - $120,400
Other compensation elements include:

Adaptive’s posted compensation information includes a base salary (or hourly rate) range and summary of other available total compensation. The base salary range represents a minimum-to-maximum salary (or hourly rate) available to candidates upon extension of offer. Base salary is thoughtfully considered upon offer and is determined through multiple evaluation checks throughout the interview process, including: a candidate’s ability to meet minimum qualifications (skills/experience/education), a candidate’s ability to thoughtfully address preferred qualifications, current market conditions, and internal pay equity. Listed base salary is exclusive of bonus, commission, equity, differential pay, benefits, and other incentives.
