As a Tax Manager, you'll lead engagements that go well beyond compliance. You'll be solving complex technical challenges, advising clients on smart planning, and mentoring the next generation of tax professionals. Tax Managers serve as project managers for assigned tax compliance and consulting engagements focused on private foundations and other not for profits organizations. This involves planning, execution and finalization of each engagement for clients.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manage Tax engagements by planning, scheduling, monitoring and reviewing compliance engagements.  Delegate tasks to assigned staff, regularly communicate with clients and other Clark Nuber staff, respond to questions, clarify assignments and review work completed. 

  • Review the work performed by staff including tax returns and work papers to ensure accuracy and compliance with professional and organizational standards, as well as codes and regulations.  Approve to process returns.

  • Serve as technical resource to assigned staff through careful review and feedback on work product(s).  Research technical issues and communicate results of research to staff or client.

  • Provide consulting services to clients to provide business advice related to tax planning and compliance and related areas.  Assist clients with all aspects of IRS examinations, appeals and other practices which include researching and analyzing tax issues, writing technical tax memoranda.

  • Manage client relationships through active and on-going communication, responding promptly to questions and inquiries, review schedules and timelines and communicate deadlines to clients. 

  • Participate in activities which support practice development and firm growth strategies and goals.  Assist in the preparation and presentation of new client proposals, attend networking events, and gather information for potential new clients.

  • Participate in administrative duties/initiatives for the Tax department as assigned which support efficiency and compliance with professional standards.  Present in-house technical training for staff that supports organizational needs.  Attend CPE courses for required professional development.  

  • Mentor and support staff assigned to each engagement by providing informal feedback during the engagement and formal, written feedback at the end of the engagement.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or a combination of education and directly related work experience. CPA license or equivalent.

Experience:  5+ years’ progressively more responsible assignments in public accounting where expertise in taxation and compliance can be demonstrated.  Demonstrated successful experience as a supervisor or lead. You must pass a background check, including a credit check, at any time to remain eligible for this position.

Salary Range: $121,000 minimum to $167,292 maximum salary range USD
