ABOUT HUB:

In a rapidly changing world, HUB advises businesses and individuals on how to prepare for the unexpected. As one of the worlds' largest insurance brokers, our focus is dedicated to providing our customers with the peace of mind that what matters most will be protected-through unrelenting advocacy and tailored insurance solutions that put our clients in control. Our growing team of professionals across North America represents a broad, deep and one-of -a kind aggregation of entrepreneurs and leaders recognized for their excellence throughout the insurance community.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Washington PCG Team Manager is a frontline leadership role responsible for managing a team of 7 Private Client Account Managers and Account Executives serving high-net-worth clients across Washington state. This position reports directly to the SVP of Personal Lines Operations and sits alongside peer managers leading the Oregon PCG team and the AAM/Operations function.

This is a hybrid, Bothell-based player-coach role. The right candidate brings strong HNW personal lines technical expertise and the interpersonal skills to coach, develop, and retain a high-performing service team — while staying hands-on enough to support complex client situations. The Manager will work closely with the Personal Lines leadership team to sustain the team's industry-leading retention performance and support a growing, acquisition-active practice.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Directly manage 7 Private Client Account Managers and Account Executives; serve as the primary day-to-day resource, escalation point, and coach for the team.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, structured performance conversations, and annual reviews in partnership with the SVP and HR Business Partner.
  • Collaborate with the Personal Lines leadership team on onboarding, training, and individual development planning.
  • Participate in hiring decisions, performance improvement planning, and, when necessary, separation processes in coordination with HR.
  • Build and sustain a team culture grounded in service excellence, accountability, and continuous professional growth.

Client Retention & Service Quality

  • Own retention outcomes for the Washington PCG team; monitor at-risk accounts and coordinate proactive outreach strategies.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for complex coverage questions, remarketing situations, and escalated service issues.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of HUB's Private Client service standards across all client touchpoints.
  • Oversee renewal workflows, carrier negotiations, and endorsement processing quality across the team.
  • Support the integration of acquired books into the WA PCG team, with particular attention to client retention risk in the first 90–120 days post-acquisition.

Operations & Performance Management

  • Monitor team workload, workflow adherence, and key performance indicators including financial retention rate, account rounding, and service turnaround times.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations (PCG) to ensure consistent use of agency management systems, SOPs, and documentation standards (Epic/Applied).
  • Identify and surface capacity, training, or process gaps to the SVP; contribute to operational improvement initiatives as the practice scales.

Carrier & Market Relationships

  • Maintain strong working relationships with key PCG carriers including Chubb, PURE, Private Client Select, Cincinnati, and others active in the WA HNW market.
  • Stay current on carrier appetite, underwriting guideline changes, and market conditions; communicate relevant updates to the team promptly.

Advocate for clients and team members in complex remarketing and underwriting situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in personal lines insurance, with at least 3 years focused on high-net-worth or private client accounts.
  • Active Washington P&C license.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client retention for complex HNW personal lines accounts.
  • Working knowledge of HNW carriers and their products (Chubb, PURE, Private Client Select, Cincinnati, etc.).
  • Proficiency with agency management systems; Epic/Applied experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable in both client-facing and leadership contexts.
  • Must be able to work on-site at the Bothell, WA office on a hybrid schedule.

Preferred

  • Experience managing or mentoring a team of 5 or more direct reports.
  • Background in or familiarity with family office and estate planning-adjacent client relationships.
  • Experience supporting M&A book integrations or onboarding acquired client portfolios.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE — FIRST 12 MONTHS

  • WA PCG team retention rate at or above the 98% PCG financial retention benchmark.
  • All 7 AMs/AEs have documented development plans and are receiving regular, structured coaching.
  • The Manager is the person the team brings their hard problems to — trusted resource, not just an administrator.
  • Carrier and client escalations are handled with speed and competence, with minimal upward escalation required.
  • Acquired book integrations are managed proactively, with a clear 90-day retention plan for each transition.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
