We are looking for a Technical Operations & Automation Specialist to support a global technology community program. This role blends technical support, operational troubleshooting, scripting, and process automation into one highly impactful position.

This is not a traditional helpdesk role.

The ideal candidate enjoys digging into technical problems, identifying patterns, improving inefficient processes, and building smarter ways to work. You should be someone who naturally asks:

“Why are we doing this manually?”

You’ll work independently in a fast-moving environment where curiosity, ownership, and initiative are critical to success.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to deepen their experience with AI-powered tooling, automation, developer ecosystems, and large-scale technical operations within a globally recognized technology environment.

In This Role You Will

  • Manage and resolve technical and operational support requests for a global technology community program
  • Troubleshoot issues involving account systems, permissions, workflows, and benefit fulfillment
  • Investigate root causes using terminal interfaces, command-line tools, logs, and debugging techniques
  • Identify repetitive operational tasks and create automation or scripting solutions to improve efficiency
  • Support and optimize internal tooling, workflows, and operational processes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with program managers, operations teams, and technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to knowledge base documentation, process improvements, and self-service resources
  • Proactively identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for operational enhancement
  • Help improve support experiences through AI-based tools and workflow automation

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working in technical support, IT operations, DevOps support, systems administration, or similar technical environments
  • Comfortable working with terminal interfaces and command-line tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple issues simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and ownership mentality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting developer tools, cloud platforms, or enterprise technologies
  • Familiarity with automation workflows or AI-assisted operational tooling
  • Experience improving operational processes or building internal efficiencies
  • Exposure to cloud environments, APIs, identity/access management, or workflow systems
  • Prior experience supporting technical communities or large-scale user programs

What Success Looks Lik

  • You proactively solve problems before they become escalations
  • You identify opportunities for automation and operational improvement
  • You operate with minimal direction and high accountability
  • You balance technical troubleshooting with strong customer experience instincts
  • You continuously improve workflows, documentation, and tooling

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
