Lead end-to-end R&D program plans for hardware and infrastructure: scope, sequencing, owners, and critical path from concept through prototype, qualification, and production handoff. Run NPI programs, coordinate design reviews, procurement, lab/test capacity, surface risks, drive cross-functional execution with manufacturing, supply chain, and deployment, and build leadership reporting while optimizing for velocity.

About Fluidstack

We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.

We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.

We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!

How We Operate
  • Extreme ownership. Full autonomy. Own things end to end often taking on scope outside your core role without being asked to get things done.

  • Velocity. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.

  • First principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.

  • Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.

The R&D Team

Fluidstack's R&D organization designs the next generations of our data center product: modular builds, new cooling and power architectures, and the lab-to-field pipeline that turns prototypes into deployable capacity. The team spans mechanical, electrical, controls, and compute engineering, working with manufacturing and supply chain to move designs from first article to repeatable production as we scale to multiple gigawatts.

Role Scope
  • Own program plans across R&D workstreams: scope, sequencing, owners, and the critical path from concept through prototype, qualification, and production handoff.

  • Run NPI programs end to end, coordinating design reviews, build schedules, long-lead procurement, and lab/test capacity so nothing waits on ambiguity.

  • Drive cross-functional execution between R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and deployment teams; surface risks early and force decisions fast.

  • Build the reporting cadence leadership runs on: honest status, slipping items named, recovery plans attached.

  • Turn recurring chaos into process only where process pays for itself. We optimize for velocity, not ceremony.

What We're Looking For

The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.

  • 5+ years of technical program management across hardware or infrastructure programs (NPI, data center, energy, aerospace, automotive, or similar build-heavy domains).

  • Comfortable in the details of mechanical/electrical/controls engineering programs. You can read a schedule risk off an engineering conversation.

  • Proven at running multiple concurrent programs with distributed engineering, manufacturing, and vendor teams.

  • Bias to action: you close loops yourself, escalate with options not problems, and keep programs moving without waiting to be asked.

  • On-site energy: this role lives close to the lab and the factory floor.

We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
