Senior Technical Writer - Commerce Cloud

The Commerce Cloud Content Experience team helps the world's most renowned brands develop innovative, personalized shopping experiences across mobile, social media, and the web.

We are looking for a skilled technical writer comfortable with both the technical and creative aspects of the role. You will create exceptional, comprehensive, and user-friendly content for developer and administrator audiences, helping readers engage with complex technical subjects. If you are passionate about understanding audience needs and collaborating with engineers and product managers to build phenomenal content, this role is for you.

Your Impact

Working in an Agile development environment, you will collaborate with writers, product managers, engineers, and UX designers to produce documentation, in-app assistance, release notes, tutorials, API references, and videos. We are passionate about innovating solution-oriented content strategies that deliver the right information at the right time.

Responsibilities
  • Content Creation: Develop high-quality, accurate, and engaging content for both developer and admin/end-user audiences, including documentation, tutorials, guides, code samples, API references, and in-app assistance.

  • Research and Understanding: Dig deep into complex technical subjects to gain a thorough understanding of the products, technologies, and tools within our Commerce Cloud platform.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers, engineers, UX designers, and subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of content.

  • Content Strategy: Contribute to content strategy development and execution, ensuring alignment with the needs of both developer and admin audiences and the overall goals of the Commerce Cloud platform.

  • User Experience: Continuously improve the user experience by providing clear, concise instructions, organizing content effectively, and incorporating user feedback to enhance accessibility and usability.

  • Content Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain existing documentation to reflect changes in the Commerce Cloud platform, keeping content up-to-date and relevant.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Share knowledge, best practices, and ensure consistency across all content.

  • Industry Trends: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and audience preferences to keep content relevant.
     

Required Skills
  • 5+ years of technical writing experience

  • A related technical degree required.

  • Ability to write clean, concise, and approachable content for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Proven ability to conduct in-depth research and synthesize complex information into understandable content

  • Proven experience and enthusiasm for utilizing AI-based tooling, specifically Cursor and Claude, to automate and enhance content creation, quality, and delivery for technical and admin audiences.

  • Understanding of software development concepts, programming languages, APIs, SDKs, and web technologies

  • Familiarity with Markdown, XML, and DITA

  • Experience with source control software

  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables within tight deadlines

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $113,500 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $90,200 - $124,000 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
