Assist the US Tax Team with state and local tax research for foreign and domestic entities, prepare summaries and tax returns using e-Forms, contact taxing authorities, maintain trackers and portals, prepare intercompany agreements and Excel workpapers, analyze tax GL accounts, and support day-to-day tax matters under supervision.
A successful Intern will demonstrate attention to detail, collaborate as a part of a team, and work within established deadlines under supervision from the US Tax Team.
Below are further details of the internship and examples of tasks that the Intern will assist with:
- Perform research for determining the state income/franchise tax return filing requirements for foreign disregarded entities and US domesticated entities.
- Prepare a summary/matrix documenting the results of the research.
- Contact state/local taxing authorities to gather information and resolve issues.
- Prepare tax returns and other forms using e-Forms tax software.
- Maintain filing status/progress trackers to facilitate internal coordination.
- Assist with logging federal, state, and local tax notices issued to EXL
- Monitor online state tax portal accounts for any open matters.
- Prepare/update intercompany agreements.
- Coordinate legal review of intercompany agreements.
- Prepare Excel-based tax workpapers.
- Perform tax GL accounts analysis.
- Assist with other matters that may arise day-to-day.
- College student with a major in business, finance, or accounting
- Hardworking, honest, dependable, practical, and dedicated
- Experience with computers/technology, proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with AI concepts
- Technical research, problem solving, and effective verbal/written communication skills
