About Prophecy

Prophecy is building the next generation AI-powered data prep and analysis platform. Our platform enables business analysts and data teams to transform raw data into reliable, production-ready datasets and insights faster, using modern data infrastructure and AI-driven capabilities. We work with leading enterprises to simplify how organizations prepare, analyze, and operationalize data, while maintaining strong governance, security, and operational control. Our mission is to make it dramatically easier for organizations to turn complex data into trusted insights that drive decisions.

About the Role

We have a couple of reps closing real enterprise business, and we have founders still sitting in most of the important deals. We're looking for the first sales leader who takes over as a hands-on sales leader: helps closing the largest opportunities herself, makes the reps we already have better/ successful, and builds the team and the machinery that makes revenue predictable without her in every cycle.

This is a carrying-a-number job before it's a managing job. There's a working foundational playbook here. There is no machine yet, and building it is the job.

What You’ll Do

  • Carry a personal number. For the first stretch you're the closer on our largest opportunities, not the coach watching one.
  • Run full cycles yourself: discovery, POC, security and architecture review, procurement, signature.
  • Get more out of the reps already here. They're productive and can get better with a real sales leader.
  • Hire the next AEs and set the bar for everyone who follows. You'll own the interview loop and the ramp.
  • Build the operating rhythm. A forecast you'd put your own money behind, pipeline reviews with real teeth, one qualification standard the team actually uses instead of quietly ignoring.
  • Turn your own wins into playbooks. Written from deals you closed, not adapted from a template
  • Own the number in front of the board, along with the honest version of what's working and what isn't.

The First Year

30 days. You can run the demo and the pitch without help, and you've sat in on live deals. You know where our product wins, where it loses, and what we don't do yet.

90 days. Named account list, territory map, and a working point of view on which enterprise segments we should stop chasing. You're multi-threaded into several accounts, running your own cycles, and in the existing reps' deals often enough to know exactly where each of them is strong and where they're guessing.

6 months. 3x coverage against your number, several POCs in flight, your first hires closed and ramping, and a forecast the executive team stop second-guessing.

12 months. The forecast holds within a reasonable band. Reps are closing deals you weren't in. The playbook exists on paper and the team uses it repeatedly to win.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years selling technical enterprise software, much of it to data, platform, or data analyst buyers
  • A personal quota you carried and beat recently, within the last two or three years.
  • Experience taking a team from two or three reps to a real org,
  • Fluency in complex enterprise cycles: $50k- $1M ACV deals, 6-9 month timelines, a champion plus a VP plus procurement plus security, all of whom want different things
  • Enough technical range that a senior data platform leader stays in the conversation
  • Comfort with ambiguity, missing collateral, and pricing questions nobody has answered yet

Seniority: Director or VP Level experience, reports to co-founder

Location: Bay Area, CA or Remote

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
