YOUR MISSION

The VP, Space Vehicle Engineering owns the end-to-end technical vision, integrity, and execution of our space vehicle products and programs, from concept and architecture through detailed design, integration, test, launch, and on-orbit operations. This role leads a multidisciplinary engineering organization with full accountability for product maturity, technical excellence, and lifecycle performance, sets the long-term vehicle and technology roadmap, and ensures our vehicles are reliable, scalable, high-performing, cost-effective, and delivered on schedule in support of mission and customer commitments. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the technical vision, product roadmap, and end-to-end mission and vehicle architecture across all space vehicle platforms 
  • Establish and evolve enterprise-wide design standards, processes and systems that enable the vehicle organization, deploying automation and AI to drive productivity and quality      
  • Act as the executive authority for systems engineering, mission integration, and technical risk across the full product and program lifecycle 
  • Drive strategy and tactical decision making across multiple products and programs through data.  Establishing delivery and quality KPIs across the engineering function. 
  • Make key trade decisions balancing performance, cost, risk, manufacturability, mission assurance, and schedule 
  • Champion innovation in mission and vehicle architectures, avionics, RF, propulsion, structures, thermal, and power 
  • Establish a rigorous mission assurance framework spanning design integrity, qualification, configuration control, and on-orbit performance 
  • Build a culture of ownership, technical accountability, and disciplined execution—we are builders first, leaders always 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline required; Master’s degree desirable but not a substitute for demonstrated experience 
  • Proven track record of full program lifecycle ownership, from early concept and architecture through design, integration, test, launch, and on-orbit operations and sustainment 
  • Demonstrated on-orbit mission experience, including anomaly response, performance assessment, and mission success accountability 
  • Extensive experience building, hiring, and leading managers and senior technical leaders across cross-functional engineering organizations 
  • 13–15+ years of progressively responsible experience in advanced spacecraft or mission systems development 

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary: $300,000-$375,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave 

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance 
  • Work Location—this role will be fully onsite at our GravityWorks factory in Centennial, CO.
  • Work environment—the work environment is in a standard office, working at a desk or in a production factory.
  • Physical demands—the physical demands may include frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting or carrying items up to 20lbs.
