The Workday Development Lead is responsible for turning requirements into reality. This role focuses on configuration, business process design, and ongoing optimization to ensure Workday supports how the institution actually operates.

You’ll work closely with functional teams to balance standard Workday design with the realities of Higher Ed.

Location

Remote with 10% travel to Tuscaloosa, AL, United States

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Workday configuration and development across assigned modules

  • Design and configure Business Process Framework (BPF) workflows

  • Build calculated fields, condition rules, and custom objects

  • Partner with security teams to define roles and domain access

  • Support testing, deployment, and post-production stabilization

  • Ensure solutions align with Higher Ed governance and audit standards

  • Document configurations and support knowledge transfer

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Workday configuration and development experience

  • Higher Education experience required

  • Strong understanding of Workday business processes and security

  • Experience supporting HCM, Financials, or Student modules

  • Ability to work closely with functional and technical teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Workday Pro certification

  • Experience with complex academic or unionized environments

  • Post-go-live optimization experience
