Company Overview

Zeno Power is the leading developer of nuclear batteries – compact power systems that provide reliable, clean energy in frontier environments. By harnessing the heat from radioisotopes, Zeno’s batteries power critical missions on Earth, in space, and at sea. To bring this technology to market by 2027, Zeno is seeking out purpose-driven and innovative professionals who are comfortable working in a startup environment. Team members will have a direct impact in enabling commercial and national security missions from the depths of our oceans, to the surface of the moon, and in austere environments here on Earth. Zeno is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to attracting, retaining, and developing a highly qualified, diverse, and dedicated work force. We do not discriminate in hiring on the basis of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religious creed, national origin, physical or mental disability, protected Veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.

Atlassian Support Engineer

Zeno is seeking an Atlassian Support Engineer with Data Center experience to administer and maintain the Atlassian suite, including Jira Software, Jira Service Management (JSM), and Confluence Data Center, and the plugins and add-ons that extend them. You will keep these tools available, secure, and performing well, configure them to how Zeno's engineering, program, and business teams work, and support and train users on their use. The work is platform administration: permission models, workflows, screens and schemes, service desk queues and request types, project and space structure, and the automation behind processes such as requisitions, contracts, and approvals. This role is onsite in Seattle, WA at least three days a week.

  • Administer and maintain Jira Software Data Center, Jira Service Management Data Center, and Confluence Data Center and their plugins and add-ons. This covers projects, spaces, permission schemes, issue type schemes, screens, workflows, service desk queues, request types, reporting and dashboards, and global configuration, and includes Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for access, workflow, screen, and configuration requests.
  • Own access administration. Design and maintain the role-based permission model across Jira projects and Confluence spaces, including group structure, project and space admin delegation, and a documented rollback path for permission changes.
  • Design and maintain complex, multi-step workflows and the automation rules that drive them, including approval chains, status progression, assignments, and notifications for business processes such as purchase requisitions, contracts, and job requisitions.
  • Build and maintain the Confluence information architecture for new programs, product lines, and business functions, including page hierarchies, templates, and space structure.
  • Monitor the performance, availability, and security of the Atlassian applications, troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise, and apply updates and patches on a planned cadence.
  • Own configuration hygiene. Audit workflows, schemes, automation rules, and permission groups, consolidate duplicates, retire unused configuration, and keep the platform administration backlog current.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, operations, finance, recruiting, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and configure the Atlassian tools to meet them.
  • Develop and implement best practices and guidelines for using the Atlassian tools, and provide training, playbooks, and design docs so teams use them consistently.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, with 3+ years of Atlassian Data Center administration across Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.
  • Hands-on experience designing and maintaining Jira automation rules for multi-step business processes.
  • Experience structuring, documenting, and implementing change management practices (playbooks, design docs, rollback plans, and training) for new products and features.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to turn a stakeholder's process into a configuration and explain it to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience designing and migrating role-based access models across a large number of projects and spaces.
  • Experience with scripting languages (for example Python and Groovy, or ScriptRunner and REST APIs) for automation and customization of Atlassian tools, including integration with build and deployment infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in JQL and SQL for reporting, data cleanup, and migration, including the ability to write complex queries and work with relational databases.
  • Program or project management experience with enterprise-wide IT system changes.
  • Experience administering Atlassian tools in a regulated environment (CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, ITAR/EAR, or a FedRAMP-authorized environment).
  • Atlassian certifications, such as Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator or Atlassian Certified Confluence Administrator.
  • Experience migrating between Atlassian platforms, such as Data Center to Cloud or between Data Center instances.
