The Consumer Accounting Professional is responsible for delivering routine and defined outputs, while also developing knowledge of the broader context in which the work is being performed. The Professional implements operational strategy by deploying and measuring processes while ensuring that the results are monitored. Also implements and reviews strategic growth and business plans. This role supports the business in their efforts to grow the business and are accountable for the communication of business decisions. Provides support on a number of operational areas including process re-engineering, information management, technical implementation and operational strategy.

Primary responsibilities include

  • Responsible for all accounting activities related to assigned product portfolios, including daily and month end journal entries. Performs detailed analysis on product portfolio data to provide timely and accurate information to the business.
  • Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of product activity through timely analysis, validation, and reconciliation of financial data.
  • Processing invoice payments from third parties and daily wires for collection activities.
  • Ensures proper controls are in place for all processes and recommends process improvements where necessary, including updating procedures, process flows, and other product documentation. Applies Corporate Accounting Policy standards to all functions.
  • Coordinates daily and monthly workflow, ensures department deadlines are met, and assists management with departmental oversight, guidance, and training.
  • Supports the development, documentation, and enhancement of accounting processes and controls associated with new product initiatives and strategic business growth.
  • Provides project support to business partners and management in their efforts to grow the business, including participation in product implementations, process improvements, and system enhancements.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to research accounting issues, resolve operational exceptions, and support regulatory, audit, and financial reporting requirements.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis experience.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across business units.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting consumer lending, securitization, or structured finance products.
  • Experience with new product implementations and accounting process development.
  • Knowledge of loan accounting and cash settlement processes.
  • Experience with financial systems, general ledger applications, and data analysis tools.
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification.
  • Prior experience supporting large-scale accounting operations within a financial services organization.

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: 8:30 to 5:00
