Job Summary:
The Enterprise Operational Analytics team resides within the Florida Blue's Enterprise Operations (EO). Enterprise Operational Intelligence Analytics team members provide analytical and operational support to the core processes of EO; act as consultants and analytical support for the Enterprise; engage with Information Technology (IT) to define, prototype and operationalize business solutions. The Specialist V conducts statistical analysis and research on key business processes and operations at the business' request. Responsibilities will include building strong relationships with internal customers, developing custom reporting, metrics and key performance indicators integrating data from many sources, ensuring understanding and correct application of analysis and delivering presentations used to guide high-value decisions.

Essential Functions:

  • The essential functions listed represent the major duties of this role, additional duties may be assigned.  
  • Writes advanced programs for data extraction using SQL; joins multiple tables together, uses complex subqueries and aggregates data to eliminate the need for manual manipulation. 
  • Reverse-engineers existing programs in order to understand and document the rules behind data extraction. 
  • Makes use of advanced SAS, R, Python or related programming skills to manipulate and analyze very large datasets, prototype complex operational reports, run simulations and/or statistical analysis, and turn Big Data into business-consumable metrics.  
  • Proactively seeks training and builds knowledge/experience of tools, languages and data sources. 
  • Analyzes data and applies advanced statistical tools and techniques to derive insights and identify areas of opportunity.  
  • Produces advanced spreadsheets, documents and presentations that are easy to follow (e.g. Excel and PowerPoint). 
  • Initiates and participates in the peer reviewing of work to ensure the quality of deliverables; leads peer review sessions for major deliverables. 
  • Serves as a resource and subject matter expert for one or more datasources within the Health Business; is able to provide advice and guidance on the proper use of data.  
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to other team members.  
  • Assists in the analysis, mapping and documentation of processes and programs in achieving stated goals. Provides recommendations if corrections are needed.  
  • Engages in long-term mentorship and development of other team members as required.  
  • Communicates effectively with internal customers and business partners; able to present and communicate analysis results to the business.  

Required Experience:
4+ years related work experience. Experience Details: 
Related Bachelor’s degree or additional related equivalent work experience 
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Experience working with and applying statistical methods and tools. Extensive experience writing SQL, SAS, R or related code. Previous experience teaching, mentoring or coaching analytical resources. Proficient with Microsoft Office products. Ability to manage tasks independently, take ownership of responsibilities and meet deadlines. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Applied experience with predictive or statistical modeling techniques (regression, classification, forecasting) in a business setting.

Experience with a visual analytics tool such as Tableau or Microsoft PowerBI.

Exposure to machine learning concepts or techniques, even in an academic, coursework, or early-career capacity.

Interest in growing into more advanced modeling and predictive analytics work as part of long-term role development.

Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Health Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science or related field. Master's degree in a related field.

 

General Physical Demands:
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.

To support your financial wellbeing, we offer competitive pay as well as opportunities for incentive or commission compensation. We also conduct regular annual reviews with pay for performance considerations for base pay increases. 
Annualized Salary Range: $84,500 - $137,300
Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $84,500 - $105,600
Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
