About Ethos

Ethos (Nasdaq: $LIFE) is a leading life insurance technology company on a mission to protect families by democratizing access to life insurance and empowering agents at scale. With its robust three-sided technology platform, Ethos is transforming the life insurance experience for consumers, agents, and carriers alike. Ethos offers instant, accessible products and a seamless online process that requires no medical exams and just a few health questions; it eliminates traditional barriers, making it easier than ever for everyone to protect their families. Ethos is redefining how life insurance is bought, sold, and underwritten.

About the Role

Ethos has digitized one of the most painful journeys in consumer finance. Today, someone can apply for life insurance in minutes, with no medical exam and just a few health questions. Our digital experience is highly functional; now we want to make it inspirational, educational, and genuinely helpful at the moments that matter most.

We’re looking for an exceptional Product leader to own the top of our consumer funnel: the landing experiences where people first meet Ethos across paid social, search, and affiliate channels, and the early application interview flow that helps them understand their needs and determine what insurance is right for them. Traditional insurance is a web of ambiguity: what options exist? What’s best for my family? Do I have to talk to an agent? How do I know I’ll get a real (and good) price? Your team’s role is to bring clarity and confidence to users by driving deep personalization by user segment and level of intent that guides users to the right answers. Beyond step-change improvements to our current channels and funnels, you’ll collaborate closely with Marketing to discover opportunities that unlock net-new campaigns, channels, or growth vectors (e.g. agentic commerce).

This is a role for an entrepreneurial product leader who pairs first-principles thinking and deep consumer empathy with an obsession for experimentation, beautiful design, and storytelling. Ethos is a product-first company, and Product leaders (as well as PMs) here operate with a high degree of ownership. You'll lead a team of product managers running the highest-velocity experimentation program in the company, set the multi-year vision for how Ethos earns a first-time visitor's attention and trust, drive your team’s quarterly planning and roadmap, and be accountable for results at scale.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership & People Management
  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of product managers, building a culture of ownership, rigorous experimentation, and shared learning
  • Set clear goals and development plans for your team, run regular performance conversations, and raise the bar on PM craft
  • Partner with recruiting to hire exceptional PMs as the team scales
  • Stay hands-on: go deep with your PMs and cross-functional team to give them the steering, feedback, and unblocking they need to excel
Strategy & Vision
  • Own the product vision and roadmap for acquisition and onboarding, from first landing page impression through the start of the application
  • Translate business goals into a portfolio of bets, balancing big swings with fast follow-ups, sequenced for maximum impact and learning
  • Set the bar for experimentation health across your team: velocity, win rate, effect size, and traffic utilization, with methodology that ties early-funnel lifts to downstream revenue
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Design, and Analytics, and collaborate with Marketing, Creative, and Compliance to create innovative solutions
  • Communicate strategy, results, and learnings clearly to executive leadership and the broader organization
  • Represent the user in every forum: advocate for experiences that are accessible, delightful, and simple

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 8+ years of product management experience at high-growth technology companies, building consumer products at significant scale
  • 3+ years managing and developing product managers, with a track record of building high-performing teams
  • Deep experience in acquisition, landing page, signup, or onboarding optimization in a high-consideration consumer category
  • A track record of running high-volume A/B testing programs, with the statistical rigor to separate real wins from noise
  • Strong storytelling and UX instincts: you know how to educate, motivate, and build trust through product, copy, and design
  • Experience personalizing experiences by channel or user segment; experience with paid social a strong plus
  • Strong analytical orientation; proficient with SQL, Hex, Mixpanel, Amplitude (or similar) for self-serve analysis
  • Experience in fintech, insurtech, or other regulated consumer industries is a plus
  • Exceptional communication clear reasoning; able to influence across functions and levels
  • Comfortable operating at multiple altitudes, from multi-year vision to hands-on execution

  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
