About the Job:

LaunchDarkly is seeking an experienced Full Stack Engineer to join our Observability team. Our mission is to empower developers with best-in-class telemetry tools that enable monitoring, analysis, and debugging of mobile applications in real time. You’ll build intuitive interfaces and robust instrumentation systems that redefine mobile observability, helping engineering teams safely deploy features and diagnose incidents faster. You’ll work across 2 product areas:

  • Mobile Platform – Data Ingestion & Visualization
    • You’ll develop sophisticated, user-friendly UIs that seamlessly visualize telemetry data (metrics, logs, traces) collected from mobile applications and lead development of the playback of user sessions captured by the mobile SDK.
    Mobile Instrumentation & SDK Development
    • You’ll build, maintain, and enhance our React Native (and similar) SDKs, ensuring efficient collection and transmission of telemetry data from mobile apps while working closely with OpenTelemetry standards to offer developers easy-to-integrate solutions.

If you’re passionate about creating intuitive user experiences, robust mobile SDKs, and innovative telemetry solutions, we’d love for you to join our Observability team!

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement mobile telemetry SDKs, instrumentation libraries, and developer tools in React Native or similar frameworks.
  • Develop performant, scalable mobile applications for visualizing and interacting with real-time telemetry data.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with UX designers, product managers, backend engineers, and native mobile developers to create cohesive, end-to-end observability experiences.
  • Prototype, build, and optimize APIs and mobile-specific data pipelines to handle high-volume data ingestion efficiently and reliably.
  • Participate actively in architecture planning, code reviews, and mentoring peers in mobile full-stack best practices.
  • Drive improvements in engineering standards, tooling, and mobile performance metrics across LaunchDarkly.
Qualifications:
  • 5-8+ years of experience developing full stack web applications. Familiarity with React Native (or similar cross-platform frameworks such as Flutter or Xamarin) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with telemetry frameworks (OpenTelemetry, Firebase Performance Monitoring, Sentry, Datadog Mobile) and integrating observability features in mobile apps. Familiarity with the LaunchDarkly product and SDKs is a plus.
  • Strong experience developing performant mobile APIs, network optimizations, and efficient client-server data exchange techniques.
  • Experience utilizing AI tooling to enhance daily engineering efficiency.
  • Ability to design robust, scalable systems and deep familiarity with algorithms, data structures, and concurrency principles specific to mobile environments.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills; committed to continuous learning about emerging technologies and mobile best practices.

About LaunchDarkly:

Modern software delivery was supposed to be the foundation for a thriving digital business but reality has proven otherwise. Slow, inefficient development cycles, costly outages, and fragmented customer experiences are preventing developers from building their best software. The LaunchDarkly platform helps developers innovate on new features faster while protecting them with a safety valve to instantly rewind when things go wrong. Developers can target product experiences to any customer segment and maximize the business impact of every feature. And by gradually rolling out new application components, they escape nightmare "big-bang" technology migrations.

The LaunchDarkly platform was built to guide engineers to the next frontier of DevOps by:

  • Improving the velocity and stability of software releases, without the fear of end customer outages
  • Delivering targeted experiences by easily personalizing features to customer cohorts
  • Maximizing the business impact of every feature through the ability to experiment and optimize
  • Coordinating the release and optimization of software to provide consistent experiences across mobile platforms and device types
  • Improving the effectiveness and productivity of engineering teams, by providing insights into engineering cadence and stability
