GLOBAL OPERATIONS ENGINEER (STARLINK)

Starlink is leveraging SpaceX’s experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy the world’s most advanced broadband internet system and largest satellite constellation. The Starlink Growth team combines deep analysis, business strategy, and operational excellence to drive customer retention, improve lifetime value, and scale the business.

As an Operations Engineer, you will drive meaningful initiatives that improve how Starlink operates. You will identify problems, develop practical and scalable solutions, collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, and use data to inform decisions that support Starlink’s growth, profitability, and operational effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply process improvement methodologies (process mapping, problem solving, visual management, lean principles) to improve self-service, accelerate resolution, and help scale processes across customer experience, logistics, accounting, supply chain, and other teams
  • Identify engineering and operational issues, determine root causes, and develop solutions for both immediate mitigation and longer-term improvement
  • Develop and maintain data analysis and tracking tools to monitor customer experience and internal operational performance
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners (design, engineering, software, sales, marketing, customer service, logistics, accounting, etc.) to create effective feedback loops
  • Partner with leadership and stakeholders to support project prioritization, resource allocation, and sustainability of solutions
  • Manage projects and execute to aggressive timelines while clearly communicating progress and influencing stakeholders
  • Partner with design, engineering, logistics, and operations teams on new product, feature, and process rollouts by participating in design reviews, supporting beta programs, and creating educational materials
  • Codify knowledge and best practices for customer-facing and internal systems and keep documentation current and useful
  • Demonstrate ownership, bias for action, and a focus on building practical solutions that can scale

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or STEM field
  • 2+ years of experience in an operations, process improvement, manufacturing, and/or consulting environment
  • 2+ years of experience with Excel, SQL, and Python

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working successfully in environments with competing priorities and aggressive schedules
  • Experience contributing to or leading operational and process improvement initiatives
  • Proficiency with statistics, data analysis, and data visualization
  • Ability to define, manage, and execute projects independently
  • Experience with lean, Six Sigma, or related process improvement principles
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages (Python, SQL, R, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with managers and cross-functional partners
  • Bias for action, ownership mindset, and history of delivering practical, scalable solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience collaborating on or mentoring within small project teams

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Level 1: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00
Level 2: $115,000.00 - $165,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees in Washington State accrue paid sick time in compliance with state and federal law. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
