About Us:

YipitData is the leading market research and analytics firm for the disruptive economy and recently raised up to $475M from The Carlyle Group at a valuation over $1B.

We analyze billions of alternative data points every day to provide accurate, detailed insights on ridesharing, e-commerce marketplaces, payments and more. Our on-demand insights team uses proprietary technology to identify, license, clean and analyze the data many of the world’s largest investment funds and corporations depend on.

For three years and counting, we have been recognized as one of Inc’s Best Workplaces. We are a fast-growing technology company backed by The Carlyle Group and Norwest Venture Partners. Our offices are located in NYC, Austin, Miami, Denver, Mountain View, Seattle, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Singapore. We cultivate a people-centric culture focused on mastery, ownership, and transparency.

About The Role:

We are hiring a Head of Cloud Infrastructure (Director Level) to lead the modernization and scaling of the shared infrastructure that powers YipitData’s data-intensive products and engineering organization. Reporting to the Chief Architect, you will own cloud platform, Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and developer experience across an AWS environment built with Kubernetes and Terraform.

This is a player-coach leadership role for someone who can set strategy, make sound architectural decisions, remain technically credible, and lead a high-leverage global team. You will unify existing modernization initiatives into a coherent roadmap, establish formal reliability and disaster-recovery practices, and make it faster and easier for engineers to build, deploy, and operate dependable software. As the platform matures, you will also improve cloud efficiency and deliver measurable savings without compromising reliability or developer velocity.

You will own shared infrastructure, while our Data Platform, Data Engineering, and application teams will continue to own their applications and data products. Security and Enterprise IT are outside this role’s ownership, and you will partner closely with those functions as well as the Chief Architect and engineering leaders.

This is a remote-friendly opportunity that can sit in NYC (where our headquarters is located), one of our office hubs, or anywhere else in the US. However, depending upon where the remote work is performed, income could be subject to New York State tax withholding.

We expect US working hours with sufficient overlap to lead and collaborate with a globally distributed team. This role does not require travel.

As Our Head of Cloud Infrastructure You Will:

  • Set and execute a prioritized cloud-infrastructure modernization roadmap, bringing existing initiatives together into a clear strategy for AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and the broader platform ecosystem.
  • Lead a small, high-leverage global team spanning cloud platform, SRE, and DevOps, combining clear direction and coaching with hands-on technical judgment.
  • Improve developer velocity and platform experience by delivering reliable paved roads, reusable infrastructure capabilities, self-service workflows, and faster feedback loops.
  • Establish and mature formal reliability practices, including service ownership, SLIs and SLOs, incident management, error-budget practices, observability, and accountable post-incident follow-through.
  • Own disaster-recovery strategy and readiness, including recovery objectives, testing, automation, and the closure of identified resilience gaps.
  • Design a sustainable 24/7 operational model, including on-call responsibilities, escalation paths, incident leadership, and healthy collaboration across a global team.
  • Partner with the Chief Architect and engineering leaders to define platform priorities, clarify ownership boundaries, and help application and data teams operate their workloads effectively on shared infrastructure.
  • Define baselines and measure progress across delivery performance, developer experience, platform adoption, reliability, operational health, and cloud unit economics.
  • Improve cloud efficiency through better cost attribution, capacity planning, Kubernetes resource utilization, automation, and measurable savings—without sacrificing reliability or delivery speed.

You Are Likely To Succeed If:

  • You have 6+ years of relevant infrastructure, SRE, platform engineering, or developer productivity experience, applied flexibly based on demonstrated scope and impact, with hands-on expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • You have led approximately 3–10 infrastructure, platform, SRE, or DevOps engineers and are excited to remain a player-coach within a collaborative, high-leverage team.
  • You have both built or materially transformed a platform function and operated mature, business-critical production infrastructure.
  • You have helped a data-intensive SaaS, analytics, or similarly complex technology organization scale through rapid growth.
  • You have owned formal reliability practices, including SLOs, incident management, production operations, and disaster recovery, and can design a sustainable on-call model.
  • You have improved developer velocity or platform experience through self-service capabilities, standardized workflows, internal platform adoption, or measurable reductions in engineering friction.
  • You can translate technical strategy into an actionable roadmap, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and influence the Chief Architect, engineering leaders, and partner teams through clear communication and credible technical judgment.
  • You have delivered measurable cloud-cost or infrastructure-efficiency improvements and understand how to optimize technology costs beyond downsizing through smart architecture across services.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent practical experience.

What We Offer:

Our compensation package includes comprehensive benefits, perks, and a competitive salary:

  • We care about your personal life, and we mean it. We offer flexible work hours, flexible vacation, a generous 401K match, parental leave, team events, wellness budget, learning reimbursement, and more!
  • Your growth at YipitData is determined by the impact that you are making, not by tenure, unnecessary facetime, or office politics. Everyone at YipitData is empowered to learn, self-improve, and master their skills in an environment focused on ownership, respect, and trust. See more on our high-impact, high-opportunity work environment above!
  • The annual base salary for this position is anticipated to be $200K–$250K, plus a bonus. The final offer may be determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal team benchmarks.
  • The compensation package also includes equity.

This role may be performed fully remotely within the United States. Please note that our US headquarters are located in NYC. If the remote work is performed outside of these offices, income may be subject to New York State tax withholding.

We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or veteran status. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
