About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Merchant Product Sales Consultant to support the growth and expansion of Merchant Services within the Commercial Banking organization. This role is responsible for driving new business development, deepening existing client relationships, and delivering innovative payment and receivables solutions to middle market and emerging middle market companies throughout the Pacific Northwest region.
As a trusted advisor, the Lead Merchant Product Sales Consultant partners closely with Commercial Banking Relationship Managers, Treasury Management Consultants, and key internal stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop customized solutions, and help clients optimize payment acceptance, improve cash flow, and drive business growth. The successful candidate will leverage deep industry expertise, consultative selling skills, and market insights to enhance Wells Fargo's Merchant Services presence while delivering exceptional client outcomes.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead complex, consultative sales efforts focused on acquiring new Merchant Services relationships and expanding existing client portfolios across middle market and emerging middle market businesses.
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to increase revenue, market share, and merchant penetration within assigned territories and industry segments.
  • Manage the entire sales lifecycle, including prospecting, needs assessment, solution design, proposal development, negotiation, implementation, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Partner with Commercial Banking and Treasury Management teams to identify, qualify, and close opportunities while delivering a seamless client experience.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Merchant Services, payment processing, receivables solutions, integrated payments, and emerging payment technologies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with executive-level decision makers, including business owners, CFOs, Controllers, Treasurers, and other senior leaders.
  • Leverage market intelligence, competitive insights, and industry trends to identify client opportunities and recommend tailored solutions that support client growth objectives.
  • Collaborate with product, implementation, risk, operations, and servicing teams to deliver successful client onboarding and ongoing support.
  • Influence strategic business decisions through effective communication, executive presentations, and thoughtful recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and product enhancement that strengthen client satisfaction, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
  • Mentor and support less experienced team members by sharing best practices, sales strategies, and industry knowledge to elevate team performance and capability.
  • Act as an ambassador for Wells Fargo Merchant Services by promoting brand awareness and strengthening relationships across the Commercial Banking organization.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Business to Business (B2B) Sales experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of proven Merchant Sales experience and/or payment processing sales experience

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success selling merchant acquiring, payment processing, receivables, or treasury solutions to commercial clients with annual revenues exceeding $100 million.
  • Proven track record of developing new business opportunities and consistently achieving or exceeding sales and revenue goals.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and executive-level decision makers.
  • Strong understanding of merchant services, card processing, payment acceptance, interchange, integrated payments, payment architecture, and risk considerations.
  • Ability to develop trusted advisor relationships and influence business decisions at the executive level.
  • Experience partnering closely with Commercial Banking Relationship Managers, Treasury Management Consultants, and other enterprise partners to drive revenue growth.
  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, business development, and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and executive presentation skills.
  • Experience analyzing client payment ecosystems and recommending customized solutions aligned to business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a highly matrixed organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex opportunities simultaneously.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$143,000.00 - $224,000.00
