Managing Consultant (Project Leader), Services Business Development (Innovation)
Overview
This role represents a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of innovation, technology and commercial execution.
As part of Mastercard Services Business Development, you will be responsible for commercialising innovation-led and tech implementation solutions by working closely with Account teams, Customer Delivery, Product and Technology stakeholders.
The role does not execute delivery. Instead, it requires strong delivery literacy to credibly position, scope, and sell complex implementation and innovation engagements, ensuring opportunities are well defined, executable, and value accretive for both clients and Mastercard.
Key Responsibilities Include
Business Development & Opportunity Conversion• Own end to end sales and revenue for this revenue stream, including pipeline generation, opportunity shaping, conversions and services revenue targets
• Identify services opportunities arising from client delivery needs, implementation challenges and/or innovative initiatives relating to payments• Partner with Account Managers, Technical Account Managers and Delivery teams to convert implementation pain points into opportunities• Drive client discussions, pitches, and proposals with a strong understanding of how solutions are implemented, without owning execution• Success will be measured by sales performance and overall contribution to the expansion of implementation-led and innovation-led projects within Mastercard Services
Innovation & Technology Commercialisation• Support the commercialisation of innovation led and tech-implementation initiatives, including new payment technologies, digital platforms, and ecosystem integrations• Bridge product and innovation concepts with real world implementation considerations• Articulate the value of implementation support in moving from pilot to scaled deployment
Experience & Qualifications
Required• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification• 8-10 years of professional experience in the payment industry, financial institutions or consulting firms with:
o Prior exposure to delivery, implementation, consulting, or technology programs, and
o Experience in business development, commercial, or client facing roles• Strong proven track record in driving and exceeding revenue targets• Strong understanding and direct exposure on technology or payments implementations, such as:
o Platform integrations
o Digital wallets and channels
o Payment gateways, processing, or tokenisation• Proven ability to engage credibly with clients and internal stakeholders on implementation scope and complexity
Skills & Capabilities• Strong delivery literacy across implementation lifecycles (integration, testing, certification, go live)• Ability to translate between technical and business conversations• Confident client communicator with demonstrated ability to build relationships with both mid and executive level clients• Structured, pragmatic, and comfortable operating in complex, multi stakeholder environments
