Summary:

The Marketing Writer - PT provides a unique opportunity for college students to gain hands on experience in a corporate setting within the mortgage industry while applying the knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom to help advance their skill set and grow professionally This position will work a variable schedule of 30 to 35 hours per week, with flexibility to meet evolving business needs. The anticipated duration of this assignment is approximately 6 to 9 months.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write new and update existing Search Engine Optimization (SEO-optimized and audience-centered content through research and data journalism to educate customers and build relationships with Freedom Mortgage as a brand.

  • Conduct research, leverage data and seek relevant perspectives to present content that is clear, accurate, insightful and meets regulatory requirements.

  • Learn and incorporate SEO best practices in all deliverables to ensure visibility and drive performance.

  • Understand the Freedom Mortgage brand voice, tone and style to provide content consistency across mediums.

  • Ensure all content is properly sourced and fact checked before publication.

  • Honor deadlines by following established production, workflow and quality control processes.

  • Awareness of industry-related news, AI tools, as well as content trends to keep deliverables current and relevant.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Ability to research and write long-form articles on assigned mortgage or financial topics as well as pitch ideas for new and interesting angles.

  • Prior work experience or university involvement (clubs, organizations, and athletics) in a writing capacity preferred

  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as collaboratively in team and cross-functional settings in-person and remotely.

  • A willingness to learn Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices, meet with key internal stakeholders and attend regular meetings.

  • Effective communicator with the ability to accept and implement feedback.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Economics, Communications, or a related field

  • High School Graduate/GED required

  • Less than One (1) year related work experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • None Required
