Business Introduction:

Are you an experienced Oncology Sales Leader looking to play a critical role in shaping the future of cancer care? GSK's US Oncology team is seeking a transformational Regional Sales Director (first line leader) who combines exceptional sales leadership with strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to translate insights into decisive action while building a thriving culture for our Oncology Account Managers.

Position Summary:

This role is designed for a front-line leader who can operate at both a strategic and executional level, translating enterprise and brand priorities into actionable regional plans, deeply understanding local and regional market dynamics, and ensuring consistent pull-through across field teams, cross-functional partners, and key customer segments.

The RSD will be accountable for leading performance across territories, with a specific focus on (disease area) sales excellence, marketplace acceleration, business planning, talent development, and disciplined execution. This leader must demonstrate strong clinical and business acumen, exceptional presentation skills, and the ability to regularly engage senior leaders, including the Head of Oncology Business Unit and Sales Vice President, with clear tactical plans to achieve accelerated performance.

Responsibilities:

Lead Performance and Execution

  • Lead the execution and acceleration of GSK’s (solid tumor or hematology) business, ensuring clear alignment to organizational goals, brand priorities, and sales performance expectations.

  • Translate national and area strategy into practical, high-impact regional execution plans that improve customer engagement, account pull-through, and patient impact.

  • Build and implement tactical plans that address marketplace opportunities, execution gaps, competitive dynamics, and barriers to performance.

  • Ensure the field sales representative is deeply accountable for execution metrics, business objectives, and performance outcomes.

  • Leverage technology and AI to improve customer interactions while driving adoption of new tools.

  • Drive a positive culture for your Oncology Account Managers.

Know the Business Deeply — Local and Regional

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of Oncology including treatment trends, competitive dynamics, referral pathways, customer decision-making, account-level opportunities, and evolving patient and account influences.

  • Dive deeply into local and regional market performance to identify opportunities, diagnose barriers, and develop targeted plans to accelerate growth.

  • Integrate regional healthcare ecosystem trends into business planning, including academic accounts, community oncology networks, IDN, pathway dynamics, access considerations, local influencers, and competitive behavior.

  • Use data, field insights, and market intelligence to challenge assumptions, sharpen strategy, and improve execution quality.

  • Develop clear, actionable business plans that connect area strategy to regional execution and measurable performance improvement.

  • Demonstrate the ability to move from insight to action quickly — identifying what is working, what is not, and what must change to improve performance.

  • Lead through change with clarity, urgency, and inspiration, ensuring teams understand the business priorities and their role in delivering results.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Enterprise Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Marketing, Market Access, Medical, Patient Services, Sales Operations, Training, and other matrix partners to drive coordinated execution at the account level.

  • Translate brand strategy into field execution while ensuring insights from the field are brought back into strategy discussions.

Compliance, Risk Management, and Values-Based Leadership

  • Role model GSK expectations and reinforce a culture that is ambitious for patients, accountable for impact, and committed to doing the right thing.

  • Identify and manage business, compliance, and execution risks while ensuring appropriate escalation and follow-up.

  • Ensure teams understand and follow all relevant policies, SOPs, promotional guidance, people policies, and required training expectations.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with the following required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

  • 8+ years of successful pharmaceutical or biotech commercial experience, preferably with at least 3 years in Oncology.

  • Experience leading teams in some capacity or in a Leadership Development program.

  • Experience leading product launches or launch acceleration in a specialty or oncology environment.

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

  • Ability to travel domestically, including overnight travel up to 35%.

We are seeking a leader who is passionate about building a culture where accountability, performance, learning, collaboration, and inclusion are foundational expectations. This individual will inspire teams to think boldly, act decisively, embrace innovation, and consistently deliver exceptional results for patients, customers, and the business.

Work Arrangement:

This is a field-based role. Most work is conducted in the field across your assigned territory. You will travel regularly within the territory and occasionally beyond. Driving is an essential function.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
