We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead complex, cross-functional programs across the PowerPoint product portfolio. In this role, you will drive operational and execution excellence, develop playbooks and systems that solve hard problems in elegant and efficient ways, and use AI to accelerate and amplify the team’s work to deliver success across programs that power the next generation of productivity.

You will help us prioritize across strategic and immediate needs and your leadership will span varied projects that can include forward deployed engineering (FDE), fundamentals from security to performance, optimizing Copilot capabilities, customer adoption and satisfaction, and ensuring high craft while modernizing frontline experiences in the world’s flagship presentation and storytelling application.

This role requires technical depth, program leadership, and executive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across diverse teams. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the future of PowerPoint while collaborating across product teams and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • As part of PowerPoint TPM leadership, prioritize programs and foster excellence within the TPM discipline.

  • Partner closely with PowerPoint PM and Engineering teams to plan, coordinate, and execute on product outcomes.

  • Across programs, define success, establish schedules and milestones, align stakeholders, communicate status and ensure shared awareness of critical details and action items.

  • Develop systems and playbooks, tooling and processes, risk mitigations, and continually evolve and improve our approach to tackling complex problems.

  • Use AI to automate and accelerate programs and derive insights that become action to propel the team forward.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
 
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 6+ years experience in program management, with a demonstrated record of delivering large, complex, cross-team technical programs by devloping systems, playbooks, tools, and processes that scale.
  • Passion for eliminating ambiguity, ensuring accountability, and history of proactively adapting programs to consistently deliver results.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI-powered tools, such as Microsoft Copilot and agentic AI coworkers, to enhance productivity, decision-making, and work quality.
  • Ability to align diverse stakeholders and influence cross-functional leaders toward decisions that produce measurable impact. 
  • Ability to lead senior-level discussions and distill complex technical details into clear, relevant messages. 
  • Demonstrated customer focus, with experience translating customer requirements into product capabilities.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
