Product Owner, Everyday AI Productivity

The Role

As AI becomes a larger part of how enterprises and their colleagues work every day, Colleague Technology Services is building an everyday AI productivity program: the AI tools colleagues use to draft, analyze, research, and synthesize in their daily work. You will own this portfolio of tools and define its strategy, from intake and prioritization through enablement to scale and impact, and you'll communicate progress and value to leadership.

This role requires real fluency in how these platforms work. You'll need to understand their capabilities, connectors, and integrations well enough to collaborate cross-functionally on our roadmap, settle prioritization questions, and guide business leaders. You don't need to be an engineer, but hands-on building experience helps, and you'll work closely with the teams who implement your decisions.

What You'll Own

Intake and prioritization

  • Own the front door for requests: new capabilities, connectors, and use cases
  • Assess each for colleague value, risk, cost, and feasibility, then say yes, no, or "not now" and explain why

Roadmap and rollout

  • Co-author the rollout roadmap with other technology and business roadmap owners, keeping it consistent with related enterprise roadmaps and bank standards
  • Track vendor releases, run pilots with clear success criteria, and recommend expand, adjust, or stop
  • Decide what we enable and in what order based on colleague value, risk, and cost

Governance and approval

  • Partner with cross-functional SMEs and process owners to move requests through review
  • Turn approval conditions into clear guidance for colleagues and keep tools within them

Delivery

  • Partner with engineering and platform teams to take capabilities from backlog to production
  • Define acceptance criteria and coordinate release readiness and production support

Licensing and cost

  • Design and implement the persona-based licensing approach: allocation, utilization tracking, and cost forecasting
  • Develop and manage the budget, and partner with operations to put the approach into practice

Metrics and impact

  • Define success metrics and track product health: adoption, depth of use, feature utilization, and business value, using usage data, support trends, and colleague feedback
  • Report on performance to leadership

Adoption and community

  • Lead the adoption strategy and direct enablement: set priorities and success measures, and guide the enablement team as it delivers training, communications, office hours, and shared assets
  • Lead a community of practitioners who use these tools, learn what works, and help others do the same
  • Tell the story of how everyday AI productivity is changing work

Who You Are

3+ years as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role owning enterprise technology products, platforms, or programs. You've managed backlogs and competing priorities across multiple stakeholders and can explain technical capability to non-technical audiences.

You've launched or scaled new technology in a large, regulated enterprise, including the change management and adoption work that makes it stick. You've worked with risk, security, compliance, and other cross-functional teams, and you know how to move through review cycles without getting stuck.

You have hands-on experience with enterprise AI tools. You've used them in real work, led a pilot, or driven adoption, and you understand their capabilities, connectors, integrations, and constraints.

You stay current and make good calls under uncertainty. The tools move fast and this is a new program. You experiment with emerging tools, build internal playbooks from what works, and adapt as vendors change.

Preferred

  • Financial services experience
  • Experience managing software licenses, utilization, or spend
  • Experience with community or champion-based adoption models
  • Product ownership certification (CSPO, PSPO, SAFe POPM)
  • Bachelor's degree

First Year, You Will Have Built

  • Launched the everyday AI productivity program as an operationalized offering across Citizens
  • A working process for intake, triage, and prioritization
  • License and cost management that tracks spend against adoption
  • A growing community of practitioners who use these tools and share what works
  • A collection of reusable assets, templates, and guidance, so teams don't start from zero
  • A roadmap of feature and connector enablement, with clear business value stories showing what's changing

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
