About this Position

The Sage X3 Team Manager – Optimization Team will lead a team of Sage X3 professionals focused on helping existing clients get more value from their technology investments.


The Optimization Team supports clients after go-live through targeted initiatives such as business process assessments, workflow improvements, automation, reporting and dashboard enhancements, system utilization reviews, data-quality improvements, and process documentation.


This role combines people leadership, service delivery, client engagement, and commercial responsibility. The Team Manager will oversee the team’s portfolio of client requests and engagements from intake and prioritization through assessment, scoping, delivery, and closure.


The Team Manager will also serve as the first point of escalation for Optimization Team engagements and will maintain visibility into team capacity, workload, case aging, service levels, delivery risks, and client dependencies.


Working closely with Client Experience Managers, Client Program Managers, consultants, and Sage X3 practice leadership, this leader will identify opportunities to improve client environments, develop appropriately scoped engagements, and ensure clients receive practical and measurable value from their Sage X3 investment.


Job Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Performance Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Sage X3 professionals while effectively managing utilization, capacity, workload, and time-off coverage.
  • Establish clear expectations for quality, responsiveness, documentation, client communication, and ownership.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development support.
  • Lead quarterly and annual performance conversations and address performance opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Monitor individual and team performance across key measures including utilization, billable hours, service revenue, case volume, backlog, case aging, SLA achievement, and client satisfaction.
  • Partner with Sage X3 leadership to strengthen the team’s functional, technical, consulting, and client-management capabilities.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, reusable solutions, consistent delivery practices, and collaboration across the Sage X3 practice.
  • Foster a positive and accountable team culture centered on curiosity, ownership, collaboration, and measurable client outcomes.
Optimization Operations & Service Delivery
  • Manage the complete portfolio of Optimization Team requests, including intake, prioritization, assignment, assessment, scoping, scheduling, delivery, and closure.
  • Ensure work is aligned with consultant skills, availability, development goals, client needs, and the complexity and urgency of each request.
  • Manage established Service Level Agreements and ensure consistent responsiveness across the team.
  • Maintain visibility into capacity, unassigned work, upcoming commitments, case aging, delivery risks, client dependencies, and blocked activities.
  • Conduct regular portfolio and backlog reviews to confirm priorities, rebalance assignments, remove obstacles, and prevent client requests from becoming inactive or overdue.
  • Ensure engagements are appropriately documented, including business needs, current-state challenges, recommendations, assumptions, dependencies, risks, estimated effort, and next steps.
  • Identify requests that require broader project definition and transition them to the appropriate sales or delivery process.
  • Connect team members with functional, technical, development, or product resources when specialized expertise is required.
  • Serve as the first management escalation point for Optimization Team engagements, taking ownership of communication, expectation management, and recovery planning when issues arise.
  • Escalate material delivery, financial, resource, or client relationship risks to practice leadership as appropriate.
  • Continuously improve intake practices, assessment tools, delivery methodologies, templates, reporting, and team operating cadence.
Client Experience & Retention
  • Build trusted relationships with clients by understanding their business priorities, operational challenges, and desired outcomes.
  • Participate in client conversations when leadership, expectation management, risk mitigation, or solution guidance is needed.
  • Intervene when work is delayed, expectations are misaligned, or delivery quality is at risk.
  • Help clients understand the measurable value achieved through optimization initiatives, including stronger system adoption, reduced manual effort, improved reporting, stronger controls, and more efficient business processes.
  • Partner with Client Experience Managers and Client Program Managers to align optimization activities with broader client technology roadmaps and relationship strategies.
  • Identify recurring client needs and use those insights to improve Sage X3 services, leading practices, intellectual property, and educational offerings.
  • Support client satisfaction and retention by providing a structured path for continuous improvement following Sage X3 implementation.
Commercial Management & Delivery Quality
  • Maintain accountability for Optimization Team service revenue, utilization, backlog health, engagement profitability, and forecast accuracy.
  • Identify and qualify additional opportunities arising from client requests, assessments, system reviews, and consultant observations.
  • Ensure engagements are appropriately scoped, priced, staffed, and structured to meet client requirements while maintaining delivery quality and profitability.
  • Partner with Client Experience Managers, Client Program Managers, Solution Architects, and practice leadership to transition larger opportunities into the appropriate sales and delivery process.
  • Support timely timesheet approval, invoice review, and accurate financial reporting.
  • Communicate service revenue, utilization, backlog, SLA performance, delivery risks, and other key business metrics to practice leadership.
  • Use client and team feedback to develop repeatable optimization offerings that provide consistent value across the Sage X3 client base.


Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading or managing consulting, professional services, ERP, or technology-focused teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Sage X3 and its application within complex business environments.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and/or distribution organizations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client engagements, competing priorities, resources, and service-level expectations.
  • Experience with business process improvement, ERP optimization, system utilization, or post-implementation consulting.
  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to manage expectations, resolve escalations, and build trusted relationships.
  • Experience with engagement scoping, resource planning, utilization management, and professional services revenue.
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to balance client needs, team capacity, delivery quality, and profitability.
  • Ability to translate business challenges into practical technology and process recommendations.
  • Strong communication, organization, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Continuous-improvement mindset with a focus on measurable business and client outcomes.
What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means building a high-performing Optimization Team that delivers responsive, high-quality service while helping Sage X3 clients continuously improve their environments. The Team Manager will create structure and accountability around the team’s portfolio, develop the capabilities of team members, strengthen client relationships, and help turn optimization opportunities into measurable client value and sustainable service revenue.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $125,000 to $165,000.

This position is also eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan.
