Senior Business Systems Engineer – Product & Engineering Platforms

We are looking for a Senior Business Systems Engineer – Product & Engineering Platforms to own and evolve the systems that support product planning, engineering execution, portfolio management, and cross-functional delivery across Socure.

This role will serve as the technical owner and strategic partner for platforms such as Jira, Aha!, and related product and project management tools. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Technical Program Management, Finance, and IT teams to translate business processes into scalable system configurations, integrations, workflows, and reporting capabilities.

Although experience with Aha! is highly valuable, this role is intentionally broader than any single platform. The successful candidate will help Socure operate and improve its current toolset while also evaluating whether those tools continue to meet the company’s needs as the organization evolves.

This is a hands-on engineering and systems ownership role. You will be expected to understand how product and engineering teams plan and deliver work, identify where tooling or process creates friction, and implement solutions that improve visibility, data quality, governance, and execution.

• Serve as the primary technical owner for Jira, Aha! and other similar platforms used for product planning, engineering execution, portfolio management, and program tracking.

• Manage platform configuration, administration, upgrades, permissions, security, integrations, data quality, and ongoing maintenance.

• Design and maintain scalable workflows, schemas, fields, templates, automations, dashboards, and reporting structures.

• Ensure platforms remain reliable, performant, secure, and aligned with company policies and operational needs.

• Establish standards for platform configuration and reduce unnecessary customization, duplication, and process fragmentation.

• Maintain documentation covering platform architecture, integrations, workflows, ownership, and support procedures.

• Work directly with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Technical Program Managers, Product and Tech Operations, and business leaders to understand planning and delivery needs.

• Translate business requirements into practical system designs and configurations.

• Help teams improve how initiatives, roadmaps, epics, dependencies, capacity, milestones, intake requests, and delivery risks are represented across systems.

• Enable consistent planning and reporting across product lines while allowing appropriate flexibility for different team operating models.

• Facilitate working sessions to identify process gaps, define requirements, and drive alignment on standardized ways of working.

• Provide technical guidance when teams are considering changes to workflows, taxonomies, reporting structures, or planning processes.

• Lead the implementation of new product, engineering, portfolio, and work-management capabilities.

• Build and maintain integrations between platforms such as Jira, Aha!, Confluence, GitHub or GitLab, Slack, Workday, financial systems, BI tools, and other enterprise applications.

• Use APIs, webhooks, automation frameworks, and integration platforms to reduce manual work and improve data consistency.

• Support data migrations, platform consolidations, tool replacements, and major configuration changes.

• Develop testing, validation, rollback, and change-management plans for system releases.

• Evaluate vendor capabilities and determine whether requirements should be addressed through configuration, integration, customization, or process change.

• Define and enforce standards for fields, hierarchies, workflows, permissions, naming conventions, and system ownership.

• Monitor system usage and identify inconsistent practices, stale data, redundant fields, or configurations that create reporting gaps.

• Build controls that improve the accuracy of roadmap, delivery, capacity, dependency, and financial reporting.

• Establish a structured intake and prioritization process for platform enhancement requests.

• Partner with stakeholders to balance local team needs against enterprise-wide consistency and maintainability.

• Periodically assess whether current platforms remain the right fit and contribute to future-state tooling recommendations.

• Build dashboards and reporting capabilities that provide leadership with reliable views of roadmap progress, delivery status, dependencies, risks, capacity, and carryover.

• Partner with Product Operations, Engineering Operations, TPM, and Finance teams to improve portfolio and initiative-level reporting.

• Ensure that data used for executive, quarterly, and financial reporting is based on well-defined and consistently maintained system fields.

• Support integrations with analytics and business intelligence tools where more advanced reporting is required.

• Help define metrics that measure platform adoption, data quality, workflow efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

• Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for complex platform issues.

• Create reusable documentation, training materials, office hours, and guidance for Product, Engineering, and program teams.

• Coach system administrators and power users on effective platform usage and governance standards.

• Communicate platform changes clearly and help teams transition to new workflows or capabilities.

• Build a network of business owners and power users who can provide feedback and reinforce consistent practices.

• Product and Engineering teams have reliable, well-governed systems that support how they plan and deliver work.

• Jira, Aha!, and related platforms are configured consistently and maintained with clear ownership.

• Roadmap, delivery, dependency, and capacity data is accurate enough to support leadership decision-making.

• Teams spend less time reconciling information across tools and spreadsheets.

• Platform changes are implemented through a predictable, well-documented process.

• Integrations reduce manual data entry and improve consistency between product planning and engineering execution.

• Socure has a clear understanding of whether its current tools continue to meet future needs.

• The company can evolve or replace individual platforms without losing the underlying processes, data standards, and operational capabilities.

• 7+ years of experience in business systems engineering, enterprise applications, IT applications, platform administration, or a related role.

• Strong hands-on experience implementing and administering Jira and related Atlassian products.

• Experience supporting product management, engineering delivery, portfolio management, or enterprise work-management platforms.

• Experience configuring workflows, schemas, fields, permissions, automations, dashboards, and reporting.

• Strong understanding of product development and software delivery processes, including roadmaps, initiatives, epics, sprints, releases, dependencies, and capacity planning.

• Experience gathering requirements and translating complex business processes into scalable technical solutions.

• Experience with APIs, webhooks, integrations, data migration, and enterprise application architecture.

• Demonstrated ability to manage platforms through their full lifecycle, including implementation, maintenance, upgrades, governance, support, and retirement.

• Strong project or program management capability, including planning, stakeholder coordination, risk management, and change management.

• Ability to work effectively with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, TPMs, Finance, IT, and executive stakeholders.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

• A bias toward standardization, maintainability, and simple solutions over unnecessary customization.

• Hands-on experience with Aha! Roadmaps, Aha! Develop, Aha Ideas, or similar product portfolio management platforms.

• Experience with tools such as Jira Align, Productboard, Craft, Planview, Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet, or equivalent platforms.

• Atlassian certifications or advanced Jira administration experience.

• Experience integrating Jira with GitHub, GitLab, Slack, Confluence, BI tools, or product management platforms.

• Experience in a SaaS, fintech, identity, risk, fraud, or regulated technology environment.

• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, product operating models, and scaled planning practices.

• Experience supporting software capitalization, engineering capacity planning, or portfolio-level reporting.

• Experience evaluating and replacing enterprise platforms.

• Scripting or automation experience using Python, JavaScript, Groovy, REST APIs, or low-code integration tools.

Product and Engineering teams depend on a connected set of systems to plan work, manage priorities, coordinate dependencies, and communicate progress. When those systems are fragmented, inconsistently configured, or poorly integrated, teams spend more time managing tools and reconciling data than making decisions and delivering outcomes.

This role provides the technical ownership and cross-functional partnership needed to make those platforms reliable, scalable, and adaptable. It also ensures that Socure’s processes and data model are not overly dependent on any one vendor, allowing the company to evolve its tooling as its operating model and business needs change.
