Job Description

Summary Description

This is a hands-on role on Expeditors’ new Central FP&A team, which runs the finance calendar, monthly forecast, annual operating plan, consolidated management reporting, and Board and earnings support. Reporting to the Director, Central FP&A, this person will build and run the models, processes, and reporting behind those cycles, and help shape how a growing FP&A function works at Expeditors.

We will hire at the Senior Financial Analyst or Manager level depending on experience. At the Manager level, the role takes broader ownership of forecast and reporting cycles, leads workstreams across Finance, and reviews the work of others as the team grows. We’re looking for someone who has done strong FP&A work in a well-run finance organization, is curious about how our business makes money, and is practical, detail-oriented, and comfortable in an evolving environment.

What You Do

Run the Forecast and Planning Cycles

  • Prepare and consolidate the monthly and quarterly forecast, managing timelines, templates, inputs, and version control.
  • Gather and validate inputs from regional controllers, finance business partners, and corporate functions, resolving gaps and inconsistencies.
  • Build and maintain the driver-based models behind the forecast, annual operating plan, and long-range plan.
  • Prepare planning assumptions, templates, scenarios, and review materials for the annual operating plan and long-range plan.
  • Partner with corporate function leaders to prepare their operating expense forecasts and budgets, including headcount and cost center inputs, bringing consistency to cost centers planned today without finance support.
  • Maintain the finance calendar and track significant strategic initiatives so their financial impact is reflected in the plan and forecast.
  • Analyze forecast accuracy and variances to actuals, and recommend improvements to methods and assumptions.

Deliver Management, Board, and Earnings Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management reporting on results, drivers, risks, opportunities, and outlook.
  • Draft clear commentary on what changed, why it changed, and what it means for the outlook.
  • Prepare analyses and supporting materials for Board meetings and the earnings process, working with senior Finance leaders and Investor Relations.
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, reconciled to reported results, well documented, and delivered on time.

Build Models and Analysis

  • Analyze business performance, cost, headcount, and productivity to support leadership decisions.
  • Build scenario and sensitivity analyses that make key assumptions transparent.
  • Apply consistent modeling standards for structure, documentation, and quality review.

Improve Processes and Systems

  • Document and improve repeatable forecasting, planning, and reporting processes, reducing manual effort and cycle time.
  • Support the transition to Oracle EPM Cloud through requirements, testing, data validation, and process design.
  • Simplify, standardize, and automate recurring work using Excel, Power BI, and emerging analytical and AI tools.

Partner Across Finance

  • Work closely with regional controllers, Accounting, Treasury, Human Resources, and finance business partners to understand the numbers behind the forecast and reporting.
  • Build working relationships across functions and geographies, approaching the business with curiosity.
  • At the Manager level, lead workstreams within the forecast and reporting cycles, and review and coach the work of others.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Senior Financial Analyst: four or more years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a related discipline. Manager: seven or more years, including ownership of a forecast, planning, or reporting process.
  • Hands-on experience with forecasting, budgeting, consolidation, and management reporting in a large or complex organization.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Solid understanding of the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and how operating drivers flow through to results.
  • Ability to turn complex data into clear, concise analysis and commentary for senior audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively where processes and systems are still evolving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a mature FP&A organization within a public company.
  • Experience preparing Board or earnings materials.
  • Experience with Oracle EPM (Hyperion), Power BI, or comparable planning and business intelligence tools, including supporting a system implementation.
  • For the Manager level, experience leading workstreams or coaching other analysts.
  • CPA, CFA, MBA, or progress toward one.
  • Global business perspective; experience in logistics, transportation, or another network-based business is a plus.

  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
