This position may be filled remotely, or in any of our locations.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, cross-functional initiatives that support the strategic objectives of Husch Blackwell. The Senior Project Manager will drive strategic initiatives, stakeholder alignment, risk management, program planning, stage-gate discipline, and executive reporting to ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives across internal and client-facing implementations.
Working proactively and independently, this role develops practical solutions to complex project challenges and adapts project approaches to support the evolving needs of the firm, business services teams, and legal professionals. Essential job functions include:
- Partner with the Strategy Delivery Portfolio Analyst and EPMO Leader to lead strategic initiatives, establish project governance, enable cross-functional execution, and provide leadership visibility into progress, risks, dependencies, decisions, and value realization.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of EPMO standards, tools, templates, and governance practices while applying those frameworks to support disciplined project execution, stage-gate reviews, issue escalation, and leadership decision-making.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, milestones, critical paths, and interdependencies to ensure successful delivery.
- Facilitate alignment across business leaders, functional teams, subject matter experts, and external partners to clarify scope, priorities, success measures, and accountabilities.
- Drive executive-ready reporting and communication, including status updates, risk summaries, milestone reviews, and recommendations for corrective action.
- Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies; escalate critical concerns with recommended mitigation plans.
- Lead working sessions to define implementation roadmaps, coordinate decisions, remove barriers, and maintain momentum across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to drive change readiness, stakeholder engagement, adoption planning, and successful implementation of new processes, technologies, and operating models.
- Coach project teams and functional leaders on governance expectations, accountability, project discipline, risk management, and effective execution practices.
- Other assignments as needed.
POSITION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field or equivalent professional or educational experience.
- 5+ years of experience leading complex cross-functional projects or transformational initiatives
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide or cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholder groups, competing priorities, significant organizational change, and executive-level reporting.
- PMP, Prosci Change Management, Scrum, or related project management certification preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of organizational change management methodologies, stakeholder engagement practices, and adoption planning techniques.
- Experience facilitating alignment and decision-making among executive sponsors, senior leaders, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders with competing priorities and perspectives.
- Experience identifying and managing system-level risks, dependencies, trade-offs, escalation needs, and organizational implications across complex initiatives.
- Strong planning, prioritization, governance, and execution capabilities across complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Change leadership mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity, challenge the status quo, and support adoption of new ways of working in fast-paced environments.
- Sense of urgency and ownership with a disciplined approach to issue escalation, mitigation planning, and delivery against commitments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes, assess tradeoffs, and recommend practical solutions.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities, monitor dependencies, maintain accurate reporting, and deliver against commitments.
- Executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, concise recommendations for leadership.
- Leadership and influence skills, with the ability to drive alignment, build trust, and hold cross-functional teams accountable without direct authority.
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and project management platforms used for planning, reporting, collaboration, and work management, including Monday.com, Smartsheet, and Azure DevOps.

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:
- State of California: $120,000- $244,000
- State of Colorado: $110,000- $196,000
- State of Connecticut: $95,000- $241,000
- State of Illinois: $108,000- $210,000
- State of Massachusetts: $120,000- $229,000
- State of Maryland: $116,000- $176,000
- State of Maine: $81,000- $188,000
- State of Minnesota: $120,000- $198,000
- Jersey City, NJ: $130,000- $236,000
- State of New York: $111,000- $241,000
- State of Virginia: $78,000- $227,000
- State of Vermont: $118,000- $227,000
- State of Washington: $116,000- $220,000
- Washington, D.C.: $154,000- $227,000
The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
