Would you like to help organizations secure the APIs, AI applications, and agentic systems that power modern business?

Are you excited about turning hands-on security expertise into credible technical content, demonstrations, and product marketing programs?

Be Part of Our Security Product Marketing Team

As APIs and AI agents transform how digital experiences and business processes are built, they also expand the attack surface and introduce new security risks. This role helps customers, partners, and internal teams understand and evaluate Akamai's API, AI, and agentic security solutions through technically credible demonstrations, content, enablement, and thought leadership. By building and operating products in practical environments, you will help showcase how Akamai protects modern applications, APIs, and agent-driven interactions.

Partner with the best

As the technical voice of the Security Product Marketing team, you will develop implementation-level expertise in Akamai's API Security portfolio and emerging AI and agent security capabilities. Working across Product Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, and Solution Engineering, you will translate hands-on product knowledge into clear technical positioning, proof, demonstrations, and reusable assets. You will provide the technical depth, evidence, validation, and demonstrations that make product narratives, launches, campaigns, and sales programs credible with technical buyers.

As a Technical Marketing Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Deploying, configuring, and operating Akamai security products in lab and production like environments to understand and document capabilities, limitations, integration requirements, and configuration patterns
  • Building and maintaining proof-of-concept environments, reference architectures, API attack simulations, and agentic workflow scenarios that demonstrate real-world security challenges
  • Creating reusable product demonstrations, hands-on labs, workshops, technical training, and proof-of-concept playbooks for customers, partners, and field teams
  • Partnering with Product Marketing to translate product capabilities into technical positioning, solution briefs, launch and campaign content, sales narratives, and other assets for technical buyers, including helping launch new products and capabilities
  • Developing technical blogs, white papers, implementation guides, integration documentation, and architecture content for API Security, Application Security, and AI and agent security solutions
  • Reviewing and validating technical claims in messaging, sales enablement, launch materials, and analyst content to ensure they are accurate, defensible, and supported by product capabilities
  • Delivering product demonstrations, technical-buyer briefings, analyst technical deep dives, presentations, and workshops for customers, partners, internal stakeholders, security practitioner communities, and select industry events
  • Collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, and Solution Engineering to understand the roadmap, test product capabilities and limits, and translate customer and field feedback into actionable product input

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 8 years of relevant experience in a hands-on role such as Technical Marketing Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, Security Engineer, Systems Engineer, DevOps or Platform Engineer, or Technical Product Manager including customer-facing or market-facing experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Bringing hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of AI agents, large language model (LLM) application security, agent discovery, agent-to-tool and agent-to-API interactions
  • Demonstrating expertise in API Security, Web Application and API Protection (WAAP), the OWASP API Security Top 10, API gateways, runtime security, and traffic analysis
  • Demonstrating the ability to independently deploy, configure, operate, and troubleshoot security, cloud, or application infrastructure
  • Building compelling demonstrations, proof-of-concept environments, hands-on labs, and technical content that simplify complex security concepts and connect product capabilities to customer challenges
  • Communicating complex technical information effectively to security practitioners, architects, executives, analysts, and cross-functional teams, applying curiosity, sound judgement, and independent problem-solving in rapidly evolving environments

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
