Our team works in a modern, cloud-native environment with technologies including Java, Python, Kafka, Elasticsearch, AWS, APIs, microservices, and containerization. We are an agile and collaborative team that values ownership, technical excellence, adaptability, and continuous learning.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable backend services and APIs supporting mission-critical business capabilities.

  • Build and enhance microservices and distributed systems using modern software engineering practices.

  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle and PostgreSQL, with a focus on performance, scalability, and data integrity.

  • Develop solutions using technologies such as Kafka, Elasticsearch, AWS, and containerized environments.

  • Contribute to cloud-native architecture and help evolve our platforms for scale, availability, security, and reliability.

  • Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code.

  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with engineers, product partners, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and contribute to sustainable, long-term solutions.

  • Apply DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies and adapt across different technology stacks as business and technical needs evolve.

  • Take ownership of projects and contribute from requirements and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.

Experience You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience, preferably building backend or distributed applications.

  • Strong programming experience in Java and/or Python, with a solid understanding of object-oriented design and software engineering fundamentals.

  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, problem-solving, and API design.

  • Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-based applications.

  • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies, including writing and optimizing SQL.

  • Exposure to NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch, or other distributed data technologies.

  • Experience with or understanding of event-driven architectures and Kafka.

  • Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform, along with exposure to infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices.

  • Understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, and modern software development practices.

  • Ability to work effectively in an agile, collaborative environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.

  • Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn new technologies.

Bonus Points For
  • Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, AWS, Java, or Python.

  • Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies.

  • Experience building highly scalable, data-intensive, or distributed systems.

  • Experience in payments, fintech, financial services, or other high-volume transaction environments.

  • Contributions to open-source projects or personal technology projects.

  • Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and solution quality.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a versatile and agile software engineer who brings strong backend engineering fundamentals and is comfortable working across databases, APIs, microservices, cloud, and DevOps.

You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed above. We value engineers who can solve problems, learn quickly, adapt to new technology, and take ownership of delivering solutions end-to-end.

If you're passionate about building scalable technology, learning new things, and working with a talented team to solve meaningful problems, we'd love to hear from you.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
